00:10that's nothing new with Justin Herbert, but we did learn that the 49ers and Brock Purdy
00:16and some of the other starters there on the offense will be giving it a go, which is why
00:22the Chargers opened up as a slight favorite.
00:25Now that line flipped to the 49ers, I think our boss said, expect Herbert and the starters
00:31from maybe one or two series, and that's that.
00:35So, you know, if I'm these two head coaches with the history of injuries that they've had
00:41to endure over the last couple of seasons, I am, this is great, Herbert, go out there,
00:46Brock Purdy, and then get off the field as soon as possible and let nobody else get hurt.
00:52They just can't keep anybody healthy here.
00:55Seems like Harbaugh's indicating that Herbert goes and plays one series and comes out of
01:00the game.
01:01That's what it seems like they want to do.
01:04Remember, these teams have joint practices and they play a lot against each other.
01:08We just don't see the video and you get like these unpolished reports as to what's really
01:13going on.
01:13It's impossible to know.
01:15You know, so from the Chargers perspective, who I would never bet on an NFL preseason game,
01:20they do have Trey Lance, who's Mr. Preseason, playing tonight.
01:24And so he's expected to play, I believe, through the end of the first quarter all the way through
01:29the half.
01:31And I kind of, you know, do like the Chargers a little first half in this game, although
01:36I don't trust anybody beyond that.
01:37The story for the 49ers, as you mentioned, Joe, is that it seems like Shanahan, no matter
01:44who they have, is able to carve out this incredible offense every year.
01:48But that, but going into this year, this, this is the biggest question year yet under
01:54Shanahan.
01:55Can he make chicken salad out of what appears to be the other word chicken?

02:00Because George Kittle has not played in the preseason.
02:02Mike Evans, who they acquired, has been hurt.
02:06Debo is back, but he has not played yet.
02:09And Christian McCaffrey's not played in the preseason.

02:15Is this kid who is playing for San Francisco, Deshaun Stribling, who everyone is talking about
02:21as maybe the most impactful wide receiver rookie in camp and maybe in the preseason, who's
02:28going to play tonight a lot, by the way?
02:29Is he legit?
02:30Like, it's maybe more of a fantasy question than maybe even a reality question.
02:34But he has been probably the biggest riser in fantasy and the most talked about name
02:40at wide receiver in any training camp, Joe.
02:44Like, this guy supposedly has been the guy.
02:47So for me, if I'm going to devote five minutes into the game tonight, he would be, you know,
02:53certainly the one to watch.
02:54I would say this.
02:56Now, I am unfortunately, or fortunately for me, I am locked into Major League Baseball's
03:01broadcast this weekend doing the Marlins Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
03:03So it's very unlikely that I'm going to be watching a ton of NFL preseason.
03:07But like we, like I crapped on NFL preseason one last week, Joe, I'm not going to do that
03:12this week.
03:13I do think that five or 10 minutes of watching time, I would not make fun of anybody for
03:18watching because, yes, you're going to get some of the players that you know playing
03:24this week.
03:25Now, next week, I will go back to crapping on it again.
03:28But this week, no, I do think some starters will play.
03:31I mean, Joe, Mendoza tonight, that's worth maybe five, five, 10 minutes of your time.
03:37And then let's say you have a fantasy draft coming up.
03:40You know, I don't, my son has it.
03:43You know, his friends put it together for tomorrow.
03:45And I was like, you guys are crazy.
03:46There's something you're going to be drafting.
03:47The guys are going to get hurt.
03:48You shouldn't do it.
03:49Just wait.
03:49They didn't listen to me.
03:50So they're drafting tomorrow.
03:51But I think most fantasy drafts are next week, you know, at the end of next weekend.
03:56So I think for those reasons, it's interesting to watch.

04:05We, you know, got the same group that that I've been with over the years.
04:10And it's more bragging rights than anything else.

04:26And, you know, you used to only have to go to places like Las Vegas was the only place you'd
04:31get those kinds of football anymore, but that's all changed over the years here.
04:37And a lot of what is going to be decided this weekend, you know, don't forget, this is where
04:42backup quarterbacks get chosen.
04:44Who's backing up Aaron Rodgers?
04:47Well, we'll have, we saw what drew a Lars doing.

04:50Well, you're going to see well, Howard against the jets, uh, over the weekend and speaking
04:54of the jets, who's Gino Smith's backup.

04:57I still don't know who the quarterback for Atlanta is going to be.
