Families living in hazard-prone homes, including 18 families displaced by a rockfall in Barangay Uling, now have safer shelters after the Naga City Government in Cebu turned over 56 housing units under its Naga-Tabang sa Panimalay program. The city donated the 20-square-meter houses free of charge to qualified families during a ceremonial Deed of Donation signing at Naga City Hall on Aug. 19, 2026. The 56 units form part of a 168-house project launched in 2025 and funded through the city’s General Fund, with an initial allocation of about P28 million. Each unit has one room and a comfort room. Mayor Valdemar Chiong said construction costs have risen from P160,000 to about P200,000 per unit, which could affect the number of houses the city can build.
