00:04and the performance of the two quarterbacks?
00:06Because we've heard your play-by-play of it, and Andrews as well.
00:11Several on the internet, they have problems with it,
00:13whether or not you felt one way or the other about either quarterbacks.
00:17Go ahead and explain, please.
00:22Did I lose them?
00:23I thought it was a very good practice.
00:27I thought that the Browns certainly looked like they belonged on the field
00:31with the Buffalo Bills, who are a team that was going to playoff game.
00:34They have the longest streak of winning a playoff game every year in the league.
00:37I think six seasons now, they've got the MVP in Josh Allen.
00:41And I thought when the Browns had the football, it was a good day for the quarterbacks.
00:45I thought that Deshaun Watson early was ripping it,
00:47had a great ball down the seam to Casey Concepcion,
00:50and that's what we needed to see.
00:51He's been very good kind of in the quick game when that first reads there,
00:55in rhythm, all of those things.
00:56But we hadn't really seen him be pushing the ball down the field,
00:59and I thought he made a couple of good throws down the field.
01:01Now, he had the bad one, obviously, in the red zone.
01:04That was a bad interception, and that's got to be cleaned up.
01:07That's not acceptable because when you're down there,
01:09you've got to come away with points.
01:11You can't turn the football over like that.
01:13But I thought all in all, very good day for Deshaun Watson.
01:15I thought the first half of it was as good a practice as he had had
01:20with the Browns in quite some time,
01:22especially going, obviously, with it against another team in the Buffalo Bills.
01:24I thought for Shador Sanders, also a very good practice.
01:28Made some big-time throws.
01:30He had one over the middle to Malachi Corley that was just a tight window throw
01:34that he got it in before the linebacker could get over,
01:36and Corley may have been able to race into the end zone there.
01:39I know there's a lot of fights over the quarterback tracker right now,
01:42but I thought both had a good day.
01:44One of the things I said on Training Camp Insider,
01:46which apparently people didn't watch, which you should,
01:48with the Hoff on there, is that it is clear to me
01:52that over the course of one year,
01:55Shador Sanders has grown incredibly as a quarterback.
01:58And I think a lot of credit, obviously, to Todd Bunkin and to Mike Pajakian
02:02because I think it's really easy to see this year
02:04and obviously to Shador himself for the work he's put into.
02:07He's so much calmer in the pocket, so much more poised in the pocket.
02:10He's seeing things better.
02:11We know he's a great deep ball thrower,
02:13but he just, I think, looks like a completely different quarterback.
02:16Now, both quarterbacks really like this offense.
02:18Another thing that is cool about this offense
02:21is really when they go in, every play call is kind of two plays.
02:24And so the quarterbacks have an opportunity to check.
02:26And one of the things that we saw in that practice,
02:29and this isn't something that can be picked up in a quarterback tracker
02:31or any of it,
02:32but both of them did a good job at various points
02:34in checking into other things and using their cadence.
02:37Shador used his cadence to get a free play,
02:39which he hit down on to Isaiah Bond
02:41and drew about a 40-yard pass interference penalty.
02:44Unfortunately, Deshaun, on the last drive
02:46when they were to the move-the-ball period,
02:48had the two plays, saw two high safety,
02:50checked into a run, which Dylan Samson,
02:52now they said that was a nine-yard run.
02:53That was a 50-yard run, which was crazy
02:55that they blew him dead there with what a guy got a finger on him.
02:58But again, you're not tackling the ground,
03:00so you really don't know.
03:02But those are the things both of these guys,
03:04I thought, had really good moments.
03:05And I thought offensively,
03:06it was a very positive day for the Browns.
03:08Your young receivers continue to impress.
03:10I thought Dylan Samson looked great with no quench on Judkins.
03:13Rocket Sanders had some nice runs
03:15and looked pretty good as what I think
03:17is going to be the third running back
03:18for your key Browns this year.
03:19And then the other one, which was something that,
03:21you know, was certainly an area of concern
03:23coming out of the Bears game,
03:25the offensive line had a very good day
03:27against the Buffalo Bills.
03:28A very good day.
03:29And I thought that was encouraging.
03:31And then last note for the quarterbacks,
03:32that Bills team last year,
03:34and everything's different year to year,
03:35but last year was the number one pass defense in the NFL,
03:37and I thought both quarterbacks were able to make plays,
03:39so that was good.
03:40Nathan Zagura, who was there yesterday
03:42with an unbelievably epic breakdown,
03:45fair and balanced, by the way, I must say.
03:46Oh, it was wonderful.
03:47For people to take shots at any of your reportage
03:50when you are playing right down the middle.
03:53He's telling the truth,
03:54and I already saw the video that we posted,
03:57so I know I'm going to get absolutely drugged
04:00through the internet there.
04:01Again, if you have a problem with that,
04:02with what Nathan has said,
04:03it is your problem.
04:05You do not want to see the truth.
04:06He cannot help you.
04:07I'll speak for Nathan.
04:08He cannot help you with reality.
04:10So with that said, Nathan,
04:11when you were extolling the virtues
04:12of how far along Shador Sanders has come,
04:16I think people are going to hear that and go,
04:17well, then what are we doing?
04:18Why hasn't he been named the starting quarterback?
04:20Why isn't he going to be the guy?
04:22Do you think this race is over?
04:24Is there anything Shador can do
04:26coming up on Saturday
04:28to propel himself into the starting role?
04:33I certainly do not think it's over,
04:34and I spent a lot of time with Todd Munkin on Tuesday,
04:37you know,
04:38talking,
04:38doing our interview for the Todd Munkin show,
04:40which I would urge everybody to make sure you check out.
04:42It is,
04:43you know,
04:44he's telling,
04:44he told you exactly how the reps were going to go this week.
04:46Last week,
04:47he told you exactly how the game plan was going to go
04:50in terms of the quarterback that Deshaun would play half.
04:51So he is not afraid to make a little news on his own radio show,
04:55which is awesome.
04:55But,
04:56you know,
04:56I got to spend time with him,
04:57not in terms of the interview as well.
04:59And no,
05:00this,
05:00this quarterback race is open.
05:02I think that he likes both of them.
05:03Now people would say,
05:04and I'm kind of of the opinion,
05:06if it's close,
05:07you know,
05:08go with Shador.
05:08He's a fifth rounder.
05:09He's under contract.
05:11He's a young guy.
05:12You can see it,
05:12but it's,
05:14it,
05:14I think that it is still up in the air,
05:16but at the same time,
05:18I think that there are certain things that Deshaun Watson is doing better
05:21than Shador Sanders.
05:23And I think that that gives Todd Munkin some comfort.
05:26If that is the direction they go.
05:28And I alluded to some of it,
05:29the pre-snap checks,
05:31making sure you're getting into the right play.
05:32Those are things that we don't see.
05:34Those are things that a quarterback tracker doesn't tell you.
05:37And again,
05:37going into being a quarterback is a lot more than just this time on the
05:40field.
05:40I think Shador Sanders has made huge strides.
05:42And I think that the Browns would be very comfortable rolling him out
05:46their week one against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
05:48I think that that certainly is still in play and we'll just have to see
05:51how it plays out with these two.
05:53I think that there are both,
05:54they are both,
05:55they both come a long way since they got here with Todd Munkin.
06:00And I think that has been the thing from a Browns perspective.
06:02That should be the most exciting at the end of the day.
06:05I have no,
06:06I want to see the Browns win.
06:08And I don't care who the quarterback is that helps the Browns win.
06:11I think everybody who's a Browns fan should feel that way.
06:13Let's just get the guy that helps us win.
06:15And here's the other thing,
06:16no matter who starts week one,
06:18they're only going to start all season if the Browns are winning.
06:21So that would be a wonderful thing.
06:23We'll find out who that is when Todd Munkin makes up his mind.
06:26But at the end of the day for Browns fans,
06:28this should be about winning football games and really nothing else.

06:35Nathan,
06:35you are a lover of wide receivers.
06:37What tells you,
06:39what tells you that Denzel Boston and Casey Concepcion will be great in the
06:44regular season against number ones against NFL defenses and not just because,
06:51Hey,
06:51they're way better than anything we've had over the last few years.
06:55Yeah.
06:55Casey Concepcion is a special route runner and we're really starting to see
06:59that.
06:59And he's not afraid of catching football in traffic.
07:01We saw that yesterday on the scene ball from the Sean,
07:04which was one of the highlights of the day.
07:06He is very difficult to get on the ground.
07:08He's got incredible contact balance.
07:10So you can use him in the short areas and get big plays out of it.
07:14So Casey Concepcion,
07:15somebody that can,
07:16from a,
07:16from a coach standpoint,
07:17and one thing that Todd Munkin likes about him so much is that contact
07:21balance.
07:21And the fact that he can get him the football and he can make plays
07:24anywhere.
07:25He's a great route runner.
07:26They can use them all around the formations.
07:28He's a smart player and has done a very good job of picking up all three wide
07:32receiver positions.
07:33Now with Denzel Boston,
07:35it's just so apparent that he knows how to use his size.
07:40He plays big.
07:41And so when we use a lot of,
07:43and we will with Todd Munkin,
07:45a lot of what we call three by one formation.
07:47So it's three receivers to one side or two receivers and a tight end to one
07:50side.
07:51And then you single up your X receiver on the backside.
07:54That gives you coverage cells pre-snap.
07:55And it also,
07:56also gives you an opportunity in most cases to get a one-on-one on that backside.
08:02And if you watch our tape from this joint practice,
08:05go even back into the game on the opening drive,
08:08or maybe it was the second drive against Chicago when they still had some of
08:11their,
08:11their players out there in those three by ones on third down,
08:16the ball's going to Denzel Boston and he is winning.
08:20You watch in our move the ball periods.
08:21And this one,
08:22the two minute drive where Sidor Brown's onto the 11 yard line when it's third
08:25down and they need it.
08:27So these guys can help you in the red zone.
08:29He's going to help you move the six.
08:30He can run vertically.
08:31He plays big.
08:32He can high points the ball very well.
08:34And I,
08:34he doesn't drop the ball.
08:35So I think you see both of these guys being immediate impact players.
08:39I think both of them have the opportunity to be the number one receiver this
08:44year.
08:44And I think they will end up being,
08:45you know,
08:46our top two receivers when it's all said and done this season.
08:49Nathan,
08:50you got people really excited when you talked about that offensive line.
08:54Cause we were very nervous based on what we saw against the bears,
08:57against a lot of their second teamers.
08:59And in this case,
08:59you're going up against a legit defense and you're holding your own and your
09:04rookie and Fano is handling business.
09:08What did you see there?
09:09Is it,
09:09is it time to get truly excited about nailing that pick and watching this
09:13offensive line gel?
09:16I hope so.
09:17I mean,
09:17Spencer Fano,
09:18I think,
09:19yes,
09:19I think Brown fans can be excited about that.
09:21He has drawn a lot of praise from a lot of people that he,
09:25you know,
09:25not only going against and handling Bradley Chubb as well as he did in this
09:29joint practice,
09:30but you know,
09:30the hops gotten to spend a lot of time with him in the meeting rooms on
09:33the field.
09:34And,
09:34and he is very excited about Spencer Fano.
09:37So I think that you see it.
09:39He's got the respect of everybody.
09:41He's got the respect of his head coach.
09:42He's got the respect,
09:43certainly of Jared verse who he's been battling with and iron sharpening
09:46iron there all off season.
09:47So that has been good.
09:49I think,
09:49yes,
09:49that's very exciting.
09:50This was a very good day for the Browns offensive line against the
09:54bills.
09:54And it's a good front.
09:55It was the first time the Browns have seen kind of,
09:57you know,
09:57a three four front as well,
09:59but it was very encouraged.
10:01You finally had everybody out there.
10:03You had Titus Howard at right tackle.
10:05You had Elton Jenkins at center.
10:06Tim and Jenkins had a nice day at right guard.
10:09And then Zion Johnson and Spencer on the left.
10:11It was good.
10:12We have not had a lot of room in the run game,
10:15you know,
10:15with Quinshine and at the beginning of that game against the jets,
10:17it was,
10:18I'm sorry,
10:18it was so familiar,
10:20right?
10:20It was like last year is getting hit behind the line of scrimmage on
10:22half the carries.
10:23So I'm encouraged.
10:24I'm not ready to say this offensive line is,
10:27is,
10:27you know,
10:28going to be dominant or harken back to some of the great Browns
10:31offensive lines just yet.
10:33But this was certainly an encouraging step in the right direction.

10:37how bizarre was it to see that Daquan Wright is entering the transfer
10:41portal when he's in camp with the Browns?
10:44Yeah,
10:45it certainly was,
10:48you know,
10:48and we hadn't seen him at least to my,
10:50I hadn't seen him in a couple of days.
10:52So maybe they knew that this was coming,
10:54but yeah,
10:54that was,
10:55that was very bizarre.
10:56And then another guy who was with us,
10:59I think it's TJ Yeldon,
11:00I think was his name who was with us earlier in camp,
11:03then ends up in camp with the Superbowl champions,
11:06the Seattle Seahawks.
11:07And he leaves as well to go back to college.
11:09So just kind of a strange thing that happened that you've got guys.
11:14And by the way,
11:15doesn't that tell you how different college football is and NIL and all of
11:18those things that guys would leave NFL camps to go back and play in
11:24college football another year?
11:25Well,
11:25yeah.
11:26I mean,
11:26instead of making practice squad money,

11:29which is a fine paycheck.

12:38And he does that very consistently.
12:40I want to see the good in rhythm throws,

12:46And if he does that,
12:47and that will be great.
12:48I think he's going to have some of his young receivers out there with him.
12:50So they should have an advantage if they are going against the backups of
12:53the Buffalo bills.
12:54So I just want to see a good productive day there.
12:57You want to see your offensive line.
12:58Now this time we won't have the veterans out there is my guess,
13:01but you want to see that line continue to provide some running lanes for
13:05this team and provide good pockets.
13:07That was the other part of the pass throw yesterday was excellent.

13:10to hit some of the plays that the Browns hit offense,
13:13they were able to do it because they had good pockets.
13:16So that was all,
13:17that was all very encouraging.
13:19I'd like to continue to see that.
13:20And then Ray Schmidt continue to stay hot as he has been.
13:23He has not missed a kick for the Cleveland Browns going back to the game
13:27in new England,
13:28which was in the first half of the season.
13:29So he has been excellent.
13:31And you want to see that keep going as well.
13:33Defensively.
13:35We need to see these young corners.
13:36Michael coats has made a name for himself.
13:38We need to see him continue.
13:40And the defensive line.

13:47but you certainly hope that that is not significant,
13:49but an already thin kind of defensive end room where they've been

13:55If he's a miss,
13:56anytime you're going to need somebody to step to step up there.
13:59Cordae Sidner is somebody that the team is a little bit excited about.
