00:22Number 10, Harold Sakata, Goldfinger.
00:25Oh, you must excuse our job, Mr. Bond. He's an admirable manservant, but mute.
00:30He's not a very good caddy.
00:31Oddjob is one of the most iconic villains in the James Bond franchise,
00:35known mainly for his steel-rimmed hat that has the power to decapitate statues.
00:40Bond faces Oddjob in hand-to-hand combat and gets his butt totally kicked.
00:44However, Bond eventually uses the henchman's steel hat against him
00:48and electrocutes Oddjob with a loose wire.
00:56If Oddjob's scream of pain sounds a little too real,
01:00that's probably because it was.
01:01Sakata seriously burned his hand while filming the scene,
01:04but he refused to let go of the hat prop until the director called cut.
01:08Now that is one tough dude.
01:10Then again, he was a professional wrestler.
01:13Number 9, Bruce Willis, Die Hard.
01:15No more table!
01:17Where are you going, pal?
01:19Next time you have a chance to kill someone, don't hesitate.
01:24Undeniably one of the best action films ever made,
01:27Die Hard is full of wonderful set pieces and awe-inspiring stunts.
01:31And weirdly enough, it wasn't a death-defying act that caused permanent injury,
01:35but the simple act of shooting a prop gun.
01:37A scene occurs in which John McClane is hiding under a boardroom table
01:41and kills a terrorist by shooting up through the wood.
01:44Bruce Willis was tasked with doing this himself,
01:46and he shot a number of blank cartridges very close to his face.
01:49Even though there is no bullet, blanks are still incredibly loud,
01:53and Willis lost two-thirds of the hearing in his left ear as a result.

01:59Number 8, Jackie Chan, Rumble in the Bronx.
02:11We could fill a whole list with Jackie Chan injuries.
02:14In fact, we did. Check it out.
02:16Rumble in the Bronx was Chan's big break in North America,
02:19and it only cost him a big break of his ankle.
02:21We apologize for that pun.
02:23Chan jumps from a bridge pier onto a nearby hovercraft,
02:27landing awkwardly on his right ankle.
02:28If you look hard enough, you can even see Chan briefly reacting in pain before the scene cuts.
02:34Chan shattered his ankle in the stunt and spent the rest of filming in a cast.
02:38Hiding said cast required a ton of creative solutions from the crew,
02:42like coloring the sock worn over his cast to resemble a shoe.
02:55Number 7, Roger Moore, The Spy Who Loved Me.
02:58You did want me to drop in.
03:04Being James Bond comes with a high degree of danger,
03:06and as it turns out, so does playing him.
03:09In the climax of The Spy Who Loved Me,
03:11bad guy Carl Stromberg tries shooting Bond through a secret tube,
03:14but he jumps out of the way just in time and the chair he was sitting on explodes.
03:18To achieve the effect, various incendiary devices were placed inside the prop chair.
03:23However, these explosives were set off a bit prematurely,
03:27igniting Moore's bum on fire.
03:29As he told BBC5 Live,
03:31quote,
03:32flames were coming out of my rear end.
03:33I ended up with three holes where most people have won.
03:36At least he has a good sense of humor about it.
03:39You shot your boat, Stromberg.
03:41Now it's my turn.
03:42Number 6, Brendan Fraser, The Mummy.
03:46His neck did not break.
03:48Brendan Fraser is a tough dude,
03:50and he has faced a number of injuries throughout his career.
03:53The most famous occurred while filming The Mummy,
03:55which not coincidentally is the one you actually see on screen.
03:59In the scene, Rick O'Connell is being executed,
04:02but is saved in the nick of time by Evelyn.
04:04According to Fraser,
04:05his acting did not look authentic,
04:07so he agreed to take it one step further
04:09and was essentially strangled for real.
04:12Rick's intense struggling is Fraser's intense struggling.
04:15And while it achieved the authenticity they were looking for,
04:18Fraser ended up passing out from a lack of oxygen.
04:21Luckily, no long-term damage was done.
04:23And the guy holding the rope above me,
04:26he pulled it up a little higher,
04:28and I was stuck on my toes.
04:29I had nowhere to go but down,
04:31and so he was pulling up and I was going down.
04:32And then the next thing I knew,
04:33my elbow was in my ear.
04:35The world was sideways,
04:37and there was gravel in my teeth,
04:38and everyone was really quiet.
04:40Number 5.
04:41Sean Bean, Patriot Games
04:46The climax of Patriot Games
04:48sees Harrison Ford's Jack and Sean Bean's Sean
04:51fighting on a speedboat.
04:52While filming the sequence,
04:54Ford was instructed to mime
04:56pushing a boat hook up into Bean's face.
05:02Either Ford pushed a little too hard
05:04or Bean was a little too close
05:06because the boat hook actually slammed into Bean's face
05:09and knocked him backwards.
05:10The accident left Bean with several stitches
05:12and a distinctive scar over his left eye.
05:14At least he has a cool story to tell people when they ask.
05:17Who else can say they've been hit with a boat hook by Harrison Ford?
05:19It was rage.

05:28Tom Cruise, Mission Impossible Fallout.
05:31At this point,
05:32we're starting to think that Tom Cruise
05:33has been replaced with a stunt-performing robot.
05:35He's inhuman.
05:41Fallout, the sixth installment in the Mission Impossible franchise,
05:44contains a shot in which Cruise's Ethan Hunt
05:46jumps between two buildings.
05:48Hunt slams into the second building,
05:50pulls himself up with a clear grimace of pain,
05:52and slowly hobbles off-screen.
05:55It's a great realistic detail,
05:56and that's because Tom Cruise was actually in a lot of pain.
06:00So he jumps.
06:00That speed, that momentum.
06:02Here we go.
06:04And now watch that.

06:09Cruise performed the stunt himself
06:11and broke his ankle upon impact with the building.
06:14Rather than calling for a cut,
06:16Cruise pulled himself up and finished the scene.

06:32Harrison Ford is one of those actors
06:34who doesn't let a mere limp hold him down.

06:40walks with a limp throughout the movie,
06:42then his character walks with a limp throughout the movie.
06:50While filming a scene in the woods,
06:52Ford tore some of the ligaments in his leg.
06:54While this should be cause for surgery,
06:56recovery,
06:56and significant filming delays,
06:58Ford simply soldiered through and refused to treat his injury.
07:05And owing to the fact that Ford was filming with torn ligaments,
07:08his character, Dr. Richard Kimball,
07:10can be seen limping throughout much of the movie.
07:11He's clearly taking the phrase,
07:13walk it off, to heart.
07:14Number 2.
07:16Sylvester Stallone, First Blood.
07:21In movie badass John Rambo's first outing,
07:24our titular protagonist,
07:26played by Sylvester Stallone,
07:28is being pursued by the abusive
07:30Hope Washington Police Department.
07:32The chase eventually leads to a cliff,
07:34where Rambo is hanging on for dear life,
07:37about to be shot at by a cop in a helicopter.
07:39With no other options,
07:40Rambo takes a blind leap,
07:43tumbles through the trees,
07:44and lands on a tree branch.
07:46Being the professional action star he is,
07:49Stallone performed this stunt himself.
07:51However, things didn't quite go as planned.
07:58The painful scream you hear when he lands,
08:00is not acting.
08:02When all was said and done,
08:03Sly walked away with a cracked rib,
08:05but an amazing stunt performance.
08:17Police Story contains one of the most insane Jackie Chan stunts,
08:21and that is certainly saying something.
08:26It involves Chan jumping onto a metal pole,
08:28sliding down through a series of lights,
08:30and crashing through a glass ceiling onto a display below.
08:47Chan was actually very hesitant to perform the stunt,
08:50and was ecstatic following its successful completion.
08:53But once the immediate adrenaline wore off,
08:55Chan realized the skin on his palms had been peeled away.
09:13The hot prop lights had significantly heated the metal pole,
09:17resulting in second-degree burns to Chan's hands.
09:20All things considered,
09:21we think he got off very lucky.
