00:00What are the five entities that make up the consensus
00:06and unanimous All-American list?
00:08I know AP is one.
00:09I know you guys are one.
00:10Football Writers Association is one, correct?
00:13Yeah, and then the UFC and then Walter Camp.
00:17Okay.
00:17So those five.
00:18And then, you know, like you said, the preseason pools, right?
00:21Like once the AP and coaches pour out,
00:24that's where we do most of the comparisons
00:27and the, you know, the arguing and those kind of things
00:31about who is overrated and overrated.
00:33I don't, I know, I feel like you guys too.
00:35I enjoy it.
00:36I enjoy it when the AP pool comes out.
00:38I was excited because it's like having some new information
00:40to download and analyze and all that stuff.
00:45How much difference, like when you look at the difference
00:47between the coaches and the AP,
00:49like do you sit there and try to go scour back and forth
00:52to see the little idiosyncrasies who got left off?
00:56Did this team get bumped up a little bit?
00:58Did this team get bumped down?
01:00There's a large degree of congruency between them,
01:04but there are some little subtle differences.
01:06Oh, yeah.
01:07You know, I think one of the things I looked at was,
01:09you know, the first place votes
01:11and who's getting most of these first place votes
01:14between the two.
01:16One thing I did notice, Bobby, I added them up.
01:18The first place votes between the coaches pool
01:21and the AP pool, and it shoots out like this.
01:24Ohio State had 78, Indiana 22, Oregon 20.
01:29So that's 120 votes, right?
01:33I had to make sure I got that right.
01:34Notre Dame 11, Georgia 7, Texas 2, Miami 1.
01:39So that means that the Big Ten had 120 first place votes
01:42across two polls between three schools,
01:45and the SEC had nine.
01:47And as you guys know,
01:48not one first place vote in the AP pool.
01:52So I think that speaks a lot to Indiana, Ohio State, and Oregon,
01:55how the voters feel that all three of those schools
01:57are going to have fantastic seasons in 2026.
02:00Do you feel like there's some kind of conspiracy
02:02going on against the SEC?
02:04Because I don't have either of them winning
02:06my national championship,
02:07but I do feel like Georgia and Texas
02:09do deserve a little bit of love
02:10as far as possibly winning it
02:12or being ranked number one.
02:13Do you not agree a little bit?
02:15Well, I mean, still, people vote on that
02:18that are in the SEC.
02:19That's what struck me.
02:21I think it's less conspiracy
02:22and more, you know,
02:23these AP pool voters in the South
02:25who know how good Georgia is going to be
02:28and how good Texas is going to be.
02:30So I was a little surprised by that.
02:33It is a big year for that conference.
02:36If you were putting pressure on conferences,
02:38it's just, you know, you could say,
02:40oh, I can't believe they haven't been
02:42to the title game in three years,
02:43but this is a conference that expects to be,
02:45have a school in the title game every year,
02:48you know, and they do have a ton of schools ranked.
02:51I mean, they have that corridor of teams
02:53from like Ole Miss to Alabama in eight to 13
02:57that definitely will be in the mix
02:58for playoff berths as well.
03:00So I don't think the SEC is hurting that much,
03:01but still that was more of the surprise to me
03:04that when you have voters from the South
03:06in the AP pool and not one of them
03:08put a one next to Georgia or Texas,
03:11that was a little bit surprising.
03:13Yeah, the first time I believe since 2015, Bill,
03:16that an AP team has not gotten a first place vote.
03:19And that was coming off that Ohio State championship run
03:22in 14 where they had almost everyone back.
03:24And I was thinking like, I don't know if Ohio State was,
03:28how many times have there been unanimity
03:31or unanimous number one in the AP?
03:34It doesn't happen often.
03:36But I mean, you know, occasionally you'll get that
03:38with a team.
03:39I wonder what, I'd have to go back and look
03:42at what 2015 Ohio State had in terms of number one votes
03:46coming off a national championship
03:48and that loaded roster they had in 15.
03:50I bet it was pretty close to unanimous.
03:52I bet the Georgia 22 team may have been close to unanimous,
03:56but you always have somebody vote for somebody else.
03:58I think what struck me as well is how it's spread out,
04:02very similar to the coaches pool
04:03where Indiana had eight first place votes,
04:06not as many as they had in the coaches pool,
04:08but they still have enough people voting for them
04:11and believing in them.
04:12And I'm one of those people too.
04:13I don't think they're going away.
04:14I don't think they are six, should be ranked six or seven.
04:17I look at it more like Ohio State, Indiana are one and two to me.
04:22So I suspected, Bill, I went back and looked
04:25and there's a page, there's a webpage for everything.
04:28College archive, preseason poll, week one, 2015,
04:34September 8th, 2015, Ohio State 61 first place votes,
04:41which was the unanimous, making them the unanimous number one overall favorite.
04:47And that being the last time the SEC did not get one
04:50because I was trying to think like that was still right in the midst
04:52of that Alabama run.
04:54So almost every year they were going to at least get a couple,
04:56I'd always assume.
04:58Yeah, and I believe that you're what, Ohio State had the late season loss,
05:03didn't get in the playoff,
05:04and then Alabama wins the national title against Clemson.
05:08So it is, they're fun to look at, right?
05:12And they're fun to, you know, analyze and look at who we think is overrated,
05:17underrated.
05:18You know, obviously when the Big Ten and the SEC have 17 of the 25 teams
05:22in the poll, that's 68%, and then you look at group of six schools,
05:27I think there were three or four schools that had four votes or more,
05:32or four votes, at least four votes.
