00:09Just ten students attend Munglinup Primary School, a vital hub for families in the town and farming parents.
00:16But an eight year struggle by the community to attract and keep teachers has locals fuming at the lack of
00:22government support to provide permanent housing.
00:25The first semester we went through four teachers and then her classroom now has another different one, so we're five
00:31teachers in three terms.
00:33There's only one government house for three teachers, with one currently living in a caravan park 40 kilometres out of
00:40town.
00:41When we tell them that there's no house in Munglinup, so they can't walk to work or it's not a
00:46five minute drive, they say why do that when we can go to a bigger regional centre.
00:51Eight years ago the local shire sold the Department of Communities a vacant block in town, at a discount on
00:57the promise that a house for teachers would be built.
01:00They're still waiting.
01:01This is where it is and we've got no house.
01:04And we were just looking for support from the government to help our children to get the best education that
01:09they can possibly get.
01:10And that is from permanent quality housing for the teachers.
01:15The community says the situation is also starting to impact their biggest industry, with potential farm employees concerned about the
01:22lack of schooling stability.
01:24Munglinup is one of a number of small towns with insufficient housing for government staff.
01:29Local governments, councils, all ringing or emailing in and it's interesting hearing their stories.

01:37Education Minister Sabina Winton has stated that there's no intention to increase permanent housing because the department has a long
01:45lease on a nearby B&B.
