00:00Hello everyone, welcome again to another Trish Trish E tutorial. Today I'm going to show you how to make a
00:09book monster. Okay? So I just want to say if you enjoyed this video, please remember to link, like, share,
00:19subscribe, please comment and hit that notification bell so you don't miss any of my videos. Okay?
00:26Alright, let's go. So today I'm going to show you how to make a book monster. I have two googly
00:33eyes. You're going to need a square. I have some of these sequences, things that you can decorate the book
00:43monster with. You're going to need glue and maybe some markers to, you know, help decorate it and maybe five
00:51strips of paper depending on how big your book monster is going to be.
00:55This is a big square. So let's get started. I'm going to show you how to do it. And I
01:01just have a book here so that you can see how you put the book monster on. The book monster
01:08is a bookmark. It's a cute little way for children to bookmark when they finish reading and they're not finished
01:18reading the book.
01:19They can bookmark it with a book monster. Okay? So let's get started. So what you're going to do is
01:26you're going to have yourself a square and you're going to fold it in half like this. Okay?
01:33And you can use this with any kind of paper. I usually use it with construction paper, but I took
01:40a lot of stuff to work and now I have nothing at home. So if it's not quite even, then
01:47you just cut off the extras.
01:49So I'm just going to cut off the extras to make it look more even. If it's not, let's see
02:00this side here. Get this side a little more even. Okay?
02:08Let me do it this way. Let me do it this way because I'm a righty. So I'm doing it
02:14this way. Here we go. That's what you're doing. Just cut off your excess like that. All right? Cut it
02:21off. So now you've got it in half, right?
02:24So now I'm going to do it this way so that you can actually see it a little better. So
02:29now you're going to fold it over like this. You're going to fold the other side and you want to
02:38make sure that it's even. Like that.
02:45So I have this part, but now I have to get this part to match. Yeah. So that's pretty good
02:53in matching. So you're going to fold it over like that and it's going to be like this. Just like
02:59this. Okay?
03:01And then you're going to flip this part up this way. Like this. And fold it. And then you're going
03:17to bring this part back down. And then what I usually do is I like to cut, well what I'm
03:26going to do is I'm going to color it inside just a little blue.
03:31Just to give it a little blue in the middle. Since I don't have construction paper. So just a little
03:44bit in the blue just to give it a little color there so you'll see what I mean.
03:51Because when you fold it over just like that. So when you fold it over that little bit of glue
03:58it pops out like that. Okay. So now as you fold it over you're going to take your scissors and
04:07just cut a little piece of that off like that.
04:11And then you can take a little glue and stick here. And then you can take a little glue and
04:16stick here. It's what I do. A little glue here. And you're going to fold it under just like that.
04:27And fold this side under just like that. So now it's looking like this. Okay? Just like that. Now you
04:42have your little book monster. Right?
04:46But now it's not finished. So now you're going to take your scissors. And you're going to cut some shapes.
05:00Okay?
05:03So you're going to start cutting. I have like five strips of paper because again I didn't have construction paper.
05:11I did a lot of them. I did 25 of these little book monsters for the children in my class.
05:19And I'm not the teacher. Okay? I'm the pattern professional in the classroom. Just to get that clear. But I
05:26made it for them. And the kids absolutely love them. And they use them. So I wanted to share how
05:32to make it.
05:33So this makes five strips. I just had to color it in with some markers. I used some Sharpies and
05:40I colored the white paper because I have new construction paper.
05:43So all you do is now you're going to cut out your teeth. So kind of like this. You don't
05:55want to cut it off. You just want to kind of go back and forth.
05:59And it doesn't have to cut it off. And it doesn't have to be perfect triangles because it's for kids.
06:08And whatever they do, however they make it, it's fine. Because it's cool. Okay?
06:19It's creative. It's creative. They can be as creative as they want. I love to see when I make something
06:26and the kid puts a little twist on it. I just love that.
06:30So you're just cutting out your teeth. Right now. You're just making teeth. So it's coming out like that. And
06:40you just cut them out.
06:45Like that. I'm still cutting. I'm trying to be easy because it's thin. I don't want to rip it. It's
06:56not like construction paper.
06:59And plus I have big scissors in my job. And I have these, you know, kitty scissors. So I'm going
07:05to take my time because I don't want to mess it up.
07:13To cut and cutting. I actually just wanted to show you how to make everything. Okay?
07:22Step by step. Because usually I would have this stuff made. And I thought about how I was doing my
07:30channel. And I said, you know what?
07:33You need to make it better. So now I need to show you more on how to make the things.
07:40And I haven't already made. Like show you how to make it.
07:43So now we made our teeth. Now all you're going to do is glue it. So you're going to take
07:49your glue stick.
07:52And you're going to put glue on your paper.
07:59And you're going to glue this part down. You're going to glue his teeth down like that.
08:08Just like that.
08:12And there you go. Okay?
08:15And now what you do is you just cut off that excess.
08:21That's how I do it. You just cut it off.
08:25Just like that. Now, you're going to take this piece.
08:29And you're going to glue it to the other side of it.
08:35Let's put your glue.
08:37And make sure you put lots of glue.
08:41Because some of you put a little bit of glue.
08:45And then it pulls off.
08:49You must make sure that when you're using this, you put a lot of glue so that it can stick.
08:57See?
08:57And then what I do is I just cut the excess part.
09:06Just cut it off.
09:08Like that.
09:10Okay?
09:10There you go.
09:11Now, this can be his teeth.
09:17And it just goes in the middle like that.
09:21Actually, I'm going to make his teeth a little bigger.
09:23So I have another strip.
09:25And I'm going to cut.
09:34And I'm going to make the tine.
09:37Have another strip.
09:40And I'm going to cut it.
09:44Because I want them to at least have four.
09:48Like, uh, one, twos.
09:56I want to be careful not to cut it off.
10:00There we go.
10:02And I'm getting it.
10:04I'm getting it.
10:05I'm getting it.
10:11Okay.
10:12This is good enough.
10:14So now, you're just going to place his teeth underneath like that.
10:19So let's just put some glue here.
10:23I'm going to fold it over like that.
10:26And I'm just going to lay down some glue.
10:31Put some glue on.
10:36Like that.
10:38And now, you just place his teeth there.
10:45And bring it out.
10:50There you go.
10:54And his teeth doesn't have to be exactly in the middle.
11:00I just put it in the middle like that.
11:04It can be to the side.
11:05Because, you know, he's a book monster.
11:08He's supposed to be a monster.
11:12Right?
11:13So now, I'm going to put on his googly eyes.
11:17For the kids, I just drew his eyes.
11:21But I got googly eyes at home.
11:25So I'm just going to put his eyes on.
11:27Like that.
11:30Okay.
11:33Just like that.
11:35So now, he has his eyes.
11:38Right?
11:39And now, I'm going to take my marker.
11:45And I'm going to draw a circle around his eyes.
11:52Which makes it even more interesting.
11:55See?
11:56And now, I'm going to give him some eyelashes.
12:01The kids thought that the book monster had an eyelashes for it.
12:07It looks funny.
12:08Okay?
12:09I'm going to give him some small ones on the bottom.
12:15Just like that.
12:18See how the book monster is coming out?
12:21It's cool.
12:22Right?
12:23Now, we can decorate them a little bit.
12:26Let's decorate.
12:28So I'm going to put some glue down the middle.
12:31And I will put on some of these sequins.
12:38I'll put like a big one.
12:40A little one.
12:44A big one.
12:47And then a little one.
12:53See how cute that is?
12:56Kids will love that.
12:58Then, I'll put some on the two, like here on the side.
13:06My book monster.
13:09And still always remember, make sure you put enough glue.
13:16Because if you don't, then these things, they fall.
13:20Right?
13:20Or, see how cute he is?
13:23And then maybe, you can give her a little hat.
13:30So, let's color this thing.
13:35I'm going to color it in blue.
13:37I have a little triangle from the piece that I was cutting off when we was making, like, the mouthpiece.
13:43So, like a small little triangle.
13:45Let's color that in.
13:47We'll give him a little, or her, a little hat to be cool.
13:56We'll color it in.
13:59Like that.
14:03And it's a fun activity to do with your children, especially now, since kids are learning at home.
14:12You know, if you come to my channel, I have a lot of things that you can do with your
14:16children.
14:17Lots of tutorials to do with your children.
14:21So, I encourage you to visit my channel more.
14:25And watch the videos and do these things with your children.
14:30And plus, it's quality time being spent now, you know, with your children.
14:35So, let's put the little hat on.
14:39Here we go.
14:42Give him, like, a little hat.
14:44And then, we'll put some glue there to fold it over to make it stay.
14:56Make it stay, like that.
15:04There you go.
15:07It's cute.
15:08See?
15:09So, now he has a little hat on.
15:11Isn't that so adorable?
15:14And now, we will put, what do I want to put there now?
15:25Let's see.
15:26I can maybe color that in a little more.
15:29Okay.
15:30Now, I, see what I said?
15:34That rhinestone came right off.
15:36Let's put it back on.
15:38Make sure enough glue.
15:41Enough glue.
15:42Maybe, and we can put a big one up here for, like, his hat.
15:50We'll put a purple one up there, like that, to be for his hat.
15:55So, that is adorable.
15:58Look how cute that is.
16:02And, I want to put, um,
16:08Hmm, I want to put one on his tooth.
16:12He's, he's a shiny monster.
16:16Let's put one on his tooth.
16:18Um, I wish I had another color.
16:24Uh, well, since it's, no, too big, too big.
16:30Uh, all right, we'll just have to use this little green one.
16:34We'll put that on.
16:36So, now he has one, like, shiny tooth.
16:40And there you go, guys.
16:41And that's how you make a cool bookmark.
16:45Now, and it's a monster bookmark.
16:48Now, let me show you how to put him on.
16:55So, you have your book.
16:57Let's say I'm on page 85 in my book.
17:02And I'm tired.
17:03And I don't want to read no more.
17:05So, I take my paper.
17:08And I put him on.
17:10And he fits in the corner.
17:11Perfect.
17:12Just like that.
17:13And I close my book.
17:15And there I have a perfect bookmark.
17:18See?
17:18And he fits there perfectly.
17:21See, guys?
17:22Let me show you.
17:23See?
17:24So, it's, he's perfectly there.
17:27He's big.
17:28You can make them small.
17:30You know?
17:31You can make them big.
17:33You can make them small.
17:34And then when you want to read again,
17:37pull him off.
17:38Or her off.
17:41And you close your book.
17:42You open your book again.
17:44And you start reading.
17:45Okay?
17:46So, that's how we make a cool little bookmark, guys.
