At least 37 people were injured after a moderate earthquake hit Japan. In the early hours of Sunday, Aug. 23, a magnitude 5.9 earthquake rattled the Tokyo area with its epicenter in the southern Ibaraki prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. No tsunami threat was issued. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a magnitude of 5.8 with a depth of 61 kilometers (about 38 miles).
