00:00Environmental activists and students marched across Chile to produce policy rollbacks on
00:05the far-right President José Antonio Cast and demanded stronger protections for native
00:10wildlife.
00:11Demonstrators gathered along Santiago Central Alameda, condemning the government's decision
00:16to review 43 environmental decrees, which activists warned leaves cultural ecosystems
00:22and protected species vulnerable.
00:24Organizers also called for an end to industrial seed lion-hunting proposals and praised recent
00:32legislative steps toward banning Galgo dog-racing, urging leaders to prioritize biodiversity over
00:39economic reforms.
00:40The demonstration concluded with a tribute honoring fallen environmental defenders as civil society
00:46groups pledged to keep mobilizing to protect the nation's natural heritage.
00:56Ultimately, my view is that it is clear that the interests of only a few are being prioritized,
01:01those with the most money, the wealthiest people in Chile, and that no importance is being attached
01:05to what we are, not only as human beings, but also to the animals and the biodiversity that
01:10exists here in Chile, because they use the term progress as an excuse to continue destroying
01:15our ecosystems here on a national scale.
