Alice Spring’s Gravel Muster sees 50 cyclists wrap up their fourth day of cycling through the desert

Whether you are riding to take in the beauty of Central Australia or enjoy the competition the Alice Springs Gravel Muster has it all around 50 cyclists wrapped up their four-day ride through the desert, building friendships along the way.

00:03Against the stunning backdrop of the East McDonnell Ranges, a line of cyclists weave

00:09over red undulating dirt and sand.

00:12It's actually like really beautiful, all the mountains and the ridges around here.

00:16I mean the landscapes and the scenery is amazing.

00:19On the last leg of a four day race back to Alice Springs, local rider Jack Brand crossed

00:25the finish line first, despite a few unexpected outback challenges.

00:30I had my head down and then there was some large cattle on the side of the road that decided

00:35to cut in front of me, I had to slam on the brakes.

00:38Victorian Elizabeth Nuspin, first in the women's and fourth overall.

00:42It feels pretty awesome, but I wouldn't say that that's the only thing that was exciting

00:47this weekend.

00:48Met a lot of awesome people and had a really great time out on the bike.

00:52The Gravel Muster Staged Race has timed racing segments for those with a competitive spirit

00:57and untimed social cruising for people who want to have a chat and enjoy the scenery.

01:02Oh, it's awesome.

01:03Yeah, yeah, you ride past people, you have a chat, riding in groups is really fun too.

01:08I think the beauty of gravel riding and this event is it takes us to, or takes them to maybe

01:13lesser visited areas.

01:14It gives, in my mind, a real sample of the heartland and the spirit of this part of Australia.

01:20With races coming from interstate and overseas.

01:23A gentleman coming from Belgium, South Africa and maybe Kiwis too as well.

01:26So, yeah, look, a real meeting of the tribe here in the Red Centre.

01:30The race shows off Central Australia's vast and rugged landscape.

01:34I wish I could reach into my pocket and grab my phone out, but I might have to come back
