00:02Under the lights of the MCG, red and blue ones, after a wild drive that wreaked havoc
00:08through Melbourne, came crashing to an end.
00:10It was seriously like a bomb went off.
00:12The trail of destruction goes all the way back to Thursday at Glen Iris, when Henry
00:17Swift woke to find his Subaru missing.
00:20It's obviously incredibly annoying, it's a massive inconvenience, you don't realise
00:24how important a car is until you've actually not got it.
00:27But Henry had no idea where his car was taken, until this morning, when he learned that
00:32Subaru had been involved in a crime spree through Melbourne's inner east, seen driving wildly
00:37on the wrong side of Punt Road before crashing into two cars.
00:41It's pretty surreal, you just don't think it'll happen to you, so I think waking up to that
00:46was just mind-blowing.
00:48Ditching the Subaru, the thief jumped into a Mustang he'd hit and sped off, but just moments
00:53later he crashed head on into two more cars and was thrown from the one he had stolen.
00:59He died at the scene.
01:01It was an absolute mess, it would have been surprising if everyone made it out okay.
01:06While police know how it all ended, it's those crucial hours leading up to that final fatal
01:11crash officers are now trying to piece together.
01:13They're asking for anyone who may have seen the stolen Subaru driving erratically, or have
01:18any dash cam footage of any of the crashes to get in touch.
01:21A woman in her 20s sustained injuries to her upper and lower body and was taken to hospital
01:26in a stable condition, but incredibly, no one else was hurt.
