Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney delivers a blunt message amid the escalating U.S.-Canada tariff battle, declaring that Canada is now the “best-connected economy in the world.” His remarks come as tensions with Donald Trump continue over tariffs, trade, and Canada’s economic strategy.

Carney’s message highlights Canada’s efforts to strengthen trade relationships and reduce reliance on the United States as Trump’s tariff policies reshape North American commerce. The growing dispute could have major consequences for Canadian businesses, U.S.-Canada trade, and the wider global economy.

01:01Now we can build such unparalleled access because we're trusted, because we're reliable, and
01:09because we have what the world wants.
01:13But our connections depend on accessible, secure sea routes that carry our world-class
01:20products.
01:22The St. Lawrence, one of the world's great trade arteries.
01:28In 1959, determined to build our own future by connecting the St. Lawrence to the Great Lakes,

01:41The goal of our trade negotiations with the United States has always been to get the best
01:47deal for Canadians.
01:50The best deal is never a deal at any price or at any time frame.
01:55The best deal.
01:57The best accord for the workers and families of Quebec.

02:15And by standing up for our values and focusing on what we can control, we will build un Quebec
02:22for, in Canada for both two.
02:31Now, that's not to say there won't be challenges in the road ahead, but we're ready to meet
02:36them because we have all we need right here.
02:40The workers, the engineers, the ambition, and the right plan, the right plan for a stronger
02:47Quebec and a stronger Canada.
02:49Building at home and diversifying our trade abroad, that's not plan B.
02:55It's been our plan A from the start.
