The next big thing might be right under our nose.

And the task is not just to find that player but to develop him or her...as UWI has teamed up with Portuguese club Benfica.

Famed for producing the likes of Bernado Silva, Joao Felix and Ruben Dias...the partnership aims to open new doors for T&T's youth talents.

00:09The Cristiano Ronaldo gold celebration was fitting as one of Portugal's top clubs,
00:14Benfica, are in town as part of a partnership with the UE Faculty of Sport. Players from 7 to
00:2017 will have the opportunity to absorb tactical and technical development, awareness, teamwork,
00:25discipline, and importantly, the values and methodology associated with the Benfica Youth
00:31Academy. And Benfica coach Jao Rosmanino gave his assessment of the talent he's seen so far.
00:37They are very physical, very physical players, very, very fast. But again, we need to work the
00:44rest, all the rest, how to be in the field, because our way to see the game is not only
00:50about
00:50inside, it's outside as well, the values. I'm not saying that they don't have those values,
00:55they have it. But I think the players here are very fast, very physically. What in terms of playing
01:02the game is not helping them, because they want to do everything very fast, very, very quick. And
01:09sometimes they need to think the game, to think the best options to make inside of the drill of the
01:15game
01:15or the game. So, so far so good. But again, we need to work them in our way to see
01:22the game.
01:23And with big clubs called in for the next potential star in the sport,
01:27the Benfica coach pointed out it takes more than just talent.
01:30I don't think it's difficult to find the talent. I need, I think it's, you need to have the right
01:36persons on each sport, because we believe that talent is everywhere. We just need to find it,
01:42of course. And to find it, we need to give the opportunities to the kids to show up, to show
01:47what
01:47they have. So I don't think it's hard to find the talent. I think it's hard to shape the talent,
01:53because talent is everywhere, like I said.
01:55After previous camps in Jamaica and Barbados, the Benfica-UE partnership has made its way to TNT,
02:01and Dean of the Faculty of Sport, Dr. Roy McCree, expanded on the objectives of the partnership.
02:07And one of the ways we have decided to do this is establishing international partnerships,
02:15just as the one we are seeing here with the top international teams and organizations,
02:20like Benfica, in order to give our young players and young talent that opportunity to develop very early
02:29on. So we have a history of producing talent, but now that talent has an opportunity to play in
02:36professional leagues that previous generations didn't have that opportunity. You know, it was
02:41North America was our camp. Now Europe, you know, Asia, you know, the sky's the limit in terms of the
02:48opportunities for our present-day players to develop and to become, you know, the messes of the world,
02:53to become the Dwight Yorks, you know, of the world. Okay, we have that track record, we have that history,
02:58and camps like these, you know, help further to nurture that talent.
