00:00There's only one category at the Emmys this year that makes me feel like I genuinely might throw up,
00:03so let's talk about it. Because we are officially a month out from TV's Biggest Night and I need to
00:07talk to somebody about it. No category has me doing long-form calculus like the category for
00:12Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, because this is the category that contains
00:17performances like Hannah Einbinder for playing Ava in Hacks and Kate O'Flynn for playing Patricia
00:22in Widow's Bay. Here's why I'm thrown off by this. Hannah Einbinder won last year for Hacks. It took
00:27four years, but she finally got the win. And I think she had enough goodwill to power her through
00:31to another win for the fifth and final season. But that being said, there's also Widow's Bay
00:36in competition this year. I think that that is going to present a real problem, especially because
00:42it's Kate O'Flynn, Patricia, that she's up against. If there's a hot show we're talking about in 2026
00:47going into the Emmy Awards, it is going to be Widow's Bay. I think Matthew Rhys is going to win
00:52for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. I think the show is absolutely going to give Hacks a run
00:57for their money. But that being said, there is one reason I think that it will not be Kate O
01:01'Flynn
01:02this year. And that's because not only will she be eligible in future years, but two, she's not even
01:08nominated or eligible for the entire season. But do people care? I don't know. This is complicated.
01:13Technically, only six episodes of Widow's Bay are eligible for the Emmys this year. All other episodes
01:18are supposed to be disregarded. They are considered for next year. That being said, though, I do think Emmy
01:24voters are just going to look at the series as a whole. I think that her episodes where she was
01:29fighting the boogeyman, I think that's episode eight, and then also episode four with her party.
01:34Those are two really powerful episodes that people are going to look at. But is that enough to offset
01:40the entire season worth of Hannah's contributions to Hacks? I don't know. If I had to go based on purely
01:47momentum, I would say it's probably going to be Kate O'Flynn for Widow's Bay. But because Hacks has been
01:53consistently nominated, they are beloved by many members of the Television Academy, and they have
01:59previous winners, I think it will end up being Hannah. I think she has just a slight edge. But
02:05then again, it's anyone's game. So maybe, maybe just maybe, this is how Jessica Williams wins for
02:10shrinking. I would not be mad about that either. Let us know in the comments who you're supporting in
02:14this category, who you're hoping will win, and follow us for more Emmy Breakdown videos.
