00:05Dr. Anne Kehoe of the Psychological Society of Ireland says it can be a big hit to their
00:11self-esteem and boundaries need to be in place. Really, it's about expectations and some people
00:17can have unrealistic expectations about what will be done for them or what they will have to do for
00:23others. The solution lies in being able to have awkward conversations. Dr. Kehoe also says it's
00:30easier for those who left and came back compared to those who never left at all. If someone has
00:35moved out before and comes home, things will have changed in the house. But if someone has been
00:41there all along, that can be harder to do as you're renegotiating there. In fact, according to data from
00:47the Australian Institute of Family Studies, the proportion of those living at home has increased
00:52in every age bracket from 19 to 30 between 2006 and 2021. Apparently, it's normal to revert to being
01:01more of a teenage self. So it's no wonder The Guardian confirms adult children feel there's no real reason
01:08to leave.
