00:00The spirit of Onam is very much the same as the spirit of politics.
00:03What we want to see in Onam, why does Maweli come back every year,
00:08Mahabali come back every year, comes back to see that everyone is all right,
00:11that everyone is being treated equally, that prosperity is being shared by everyone.
00:15That is something that is also the objective of politics.
00:18So my service, the public service of all of us in politics has to be to ensure the same thing,
00:24that everybody is treated equally, that everyone gets opportunities,
00:27that everybody is able to share the prosperity of the collectivity.
00:31And therefore, politics and Onam fit in together in the same spirit in Kerala.
00:36And that is precisely why it is a pleasure to battle our traffic during Onam
00:41and run from function to function, ranging from Onam kid distributions
00:45to this very moving function today for differently abled children.
00:50Onam is about helping everyone.
00:52And I'm very pleased that I've been able to do that.
00:54I thank my friend here, Francis Albert and his team for their hard work
00:58in helping children whose families are really in great distress
01:01and for us to be able to distribute wheelchairs, Onam kits,
01:07award the efforts of all of those people, medical assistants, iron clothing,
01:11all of this, all the essential basics that they cannot take for granted
01:15the way the rest of us can.
01:16So in that spirit of love, compassion and service, happy Onam to everybody.
