Prosecutors in the Lindsay Clancy case called their second rebuttal witness Monday, Aug. 24, a forensic psychologist who testified about Clancy’s mental state and possible reasons for why she killed her three children. Clancy, 36, is charged with the murders of her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan, whom she strangled to death with exercise bands at the family’s home in Duxbury, Mass., in January 2023. She has pleaded not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility and her defense hinges on the argument that she had postpartum psychosis.

00:00The next bullet is her response to her husband's question, what did you do?
00:06So when he got home around 6 p.m. on January 24th, and the house was quiet, and he went
00:17in, thought people might have been playing hide-and-seek with him, called downstairs, didn't get an answer, called upstairs,
00:24didn't get an answer.
00:26Went upstairs, found the bedroom door locked, unlocked it with his key, went in, saw some blood there, saw the
00:35window was open, ran downstairs, and he saw his wife, Lindsay, lying there, semi-conscious.
00:42And he said, his first question was, what did you do?
00:50And her response was, I tried to kill myself.
00:55Now, I thought that if she had actually experienced this command hallucination, that she might have said something like, I
01:04did what I had to do, or I did what the voice said, or something like that.
01:09But no, she said, I tried to kill myself.
01:13But no, she said, I tried to kill myself.
