00:00Advice for handling complicated interpersonal relationships during internship.
00:05So what is your advice to them for young people? Do you encourage them?
00:11So what is your advice for us that already after graduate,
00:16like some of us are already year three semester three, and then next semester will be graduate already?
00:20So back to the basic, it's not about when you graduated, it's not about what kind of courses you are
00:27taking,
00:28it's not about what kind of job waiting for you.
00:30To my own experience, it's all about whether you are ready to take up challenges, that's all.
00:38During my time, I think the same apply here.
00:41If you apply for a job, the employer is not looking at what you study alone.
00:49I prepare a lot of CV, right?
00:53Like curriculum, activities, position, my first employer don't even look at it.
01:00And then it's all about interview, it's all about what you answer, it's all about what you think.
01:05So if you ask me, get yourself ready before you graduate.
01:10Like today, you participated in this forum, or you participated in activities,
01:15you participated in competition, you became committees, organized program, volunteer, internship.
01:24These are more important than only securing a certificate or a degree.
01:30That won't bring you too far away.
01:33And by organizing program, participating in students, union, or whatnot,
01:38they shape your leadership, your skill, communication, problem solving.
01:45That's very important because after you leave your campus, everything just started, not ended.
01:52So if you ask me about challenges, preparedness, these are it.
01:57I compare myself or I compare my friends and those who only study
02:02from hostel to library to lecture hall, go back home for the past three, four years.
02:10It won't bring you far.
02:13I had my one-year senior recently.
02:17He is a president and CEO of a listed company.
02:21Just one year older than me.
02:23What is so special about him?
02:26No, same degree.
02:27But why did he outperform others?
02:29He was an active student leader.
02:32Be a person that is employable.
02:35When they say employable means, doesn't mean that certificate.
02:38Once again, first job usually is the first classroom after you leave university.
02:45Grab whatever you have because you need experience.
02:49You need exposure.
02:53Before you graduate, get your connection.
02:57Connection is very important, okay?
03:00When I graduated from UKM, when we graduated, the first thing we did is not going to apply job.
03:07First thing is pick up the phone and call senior.
03:10Senior, I'm graduating next month and it's job for me.
03:16If you have, if you participated in program, if you have good alumni connection, they are looking for their junior.
03:24First thing is, we're going to be back to about the school country.
03:24You can see us before they quit.
03:24Once again, the current one will get out of the school, in the same time.
03:34You
