00:01The Impeachment Court decides to wipe clean past violations of the subjudice rule.
00:06Two companies that bag billions worth of public works contracts are also behind the petition
00:11to put the P85 wage hike in Metro Manila on hold.
00:14The BRP Diego Silang faced five Chinese vessels while on patrol at Escoda Shoal on August 22.
00:21The Commission on Audit lacks 384 state auditors to spot corruption and ensure public funds are properly used.
00:28And Queen of Country Music Dolly Parton passes away at the age of 80.
00:40Presiding Officer Cheese Escudero says the Impeachment Court has decided to wipe clean past violations of the subjudice rule or
00:47Rule 18.
00:48But he warned all parties in the trial, including the respondent, Vice President Sara Duterte,
00:53of the strict enforcement of rules and appropriate sanctions for future violations.
00:58Escudero also reminds Senator judges and involved parties, including the respective spokespersons of the two camps and the respondent herself,
01:05to refrain from discussing the merits of the case outside of the court and online.
01:09Accordingly, the Chair hereby strictly enjoins all persons covered by Rule 18,
01:15from making public statements or otherwise discussing, sharing or endorsing comments pertaining to the merits of this pending impeachment trial,
01:22and from engaging in trial by publicity as they directly threaten the independence of the court,
01:28degrade the dignity of the tribunal and risk turning it into a circus,
01:31and weaponize the media to substitute public outrage for actual evidence.
01:38Meantime, constitutional lawyer Lulu Reyes says the subjudice ruling of Impeachment Presiding Officer Cheese Escudero was,
01:46that was a very eloquent way of issuing a gag order.
01:52I think he really implemented or his objective is really to implement Rule 18 of the Senate Rules on Impeachment
02:04quite restrictively,
02:05and that it applies to all the parties.
02:10But more importantly, and I wish he mentioned her name, the subjudice rule or Rule 18 applies to the respondent
02:20herself.

02:28petition
02:29to put the long-awaited 85 peso wage hike in Metro Manila on hold.

02:41while R2 Builders secured 3.3 billion pesos worth of contracts from 2019 to 2022.
02:46Among these, three contracts with a total cost of 503.3 million pesos were a joint venture between the two.
02:54Both companies previously argued against the historic 85 peso daily minimum pay increase,
02:59saying this would disrupt projects priced before the wage order was issued.
03:02After the two companies' petition, a PASIG court issued a temporary restraining order against the Regional Wage Board
03:09and the National Wages and Productivity Commission to stop them from implementing the wage hike.
03:13But Kamangagawa Rep. Eli San Fernando says,
03:17Paano'ng malulugi tong mga kumpanyang to?
03:20Kung coming from the Secretary and DPWH, they were able to secure billions of pesos of contracts and yet they
03:29cannot pay their workers.
03:38The first 60 peso trash had already taken effect on July 25, raising the daily minimum wage for non-agricultural
03:45workers from 695 pesos to 755 pesos,
03:49with an additional 25 peso hike scheduled for January 20 next year.
