00:00Notting Hill Carnival is back and is set to bring the streets of West London to life this bank
00:04holiday weekend. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the world's second largest festival will see
00:09roughly 2 million people come together for parades, parties, dancing and food. Beginning
00:14in the Windrush generation, Notting Hill Carnival is rooted in Caribbean culture,
00:18with the festival stemming from a response to widespread racial tensions in the 1950s,
00:23though it's since been the ultimate symbol of togetherness and unity in the capital,
00:26with organisers saying it epitomises today's modern London. Across the bank holiday weekend,
00:32the Carnival will host a steel band competition day, a families and children's day and an adult's
00:37day, which is where the party really gets going. The Notting Hill area will see around 250 pop-up
00:42vendors selling food from all around the world, particularly the iconic and much-loved Caribbean
00:46classics. And when it comes to music, reggae is of course part of the Carnival's DNA,
00:51so organisers say every music taste is catered for, offering more than 30 static sound systems,
00:57from dub, house and jungle, to samba, blues, hip-hop, the list goes off. But the main event,
01:03the Adults Parade. This is where West London Street lights up with colour and spectacle,
01:08with thousands coming to experience the dazzling costumes and music-filled floats for themselves.
