00:00The biggest impact may be financial. The most controversial effect of AI could be on jobs.
00:08AI doesn't necessarily need to replace entire professions. It only needs to replace enough
00:13tasks inside those professions to change how many people companies need. A company that once needed
00:1910 employees for a particular process might eventually need 5. A designer may use AI to
00:25complete work that previously took several hours. A programmer may generate large portions of code
00:32automatically. Customer service could become increasingly automated. Marketing, accounting,
00:38research, translation, administration, and many other fields could also experience major changes.
00:44And this creates two completely different futures. In one future, AI increases productivity. Companies
00:52make more money, new industries appear, workers become more productive, and people spend less
00:58time doing repetitive work. But in another future, the economic benefits go mostly to the companies
01:04and individuals who own the technology. Productivity increases, but wages don't. And the gap between
01:12people who understand AI and people who don't becomes much larger. So the real question may
01:18not be, will AI take our jobs? The bigger question is, who will benefit financially from AI?
