00:11The 52-year-old, who is also the son of the country's long-ruling President Yoweri Museveni,
00:16is known for his aggressive social media posts and attacks on opposition figures.
00:21Kainerugaba, who leads a political pressure group called the Patriotic League of Uganda,
00:25has long been touted as a possible successor to his 81-year-old father.
00:30He played a key role in Museveni's re-election to a seventh term in office earlier this year
00:35by leading a brutal crackdown on the opposition and cutting Internet access.
00:39The poll was held amid heightened political tensions.
00:43Opposition leader Bobby Wine left Uganda for the United States, saying he feared for his safety.
00:48Another prominent opposition figure, Kizia Besikia, has been held in prison since 2024
00:54and is facing treason charges.
00:57It's not yet clear if Museveni, who has ruled Uganda since 1986, intends standing in the election.
