02:30grandfather grandmother father mother i am amalia
02:51my dear granddaughter when you were born you were taken away from us it's so great that we could get
02:57you back now the duke family is finally whole again gracias adios this is your sister valentina
03:04she's been with us all these years she may not be ours by blood but to us she's family
03:12oh my god amalia why aren't you wearing shoes
03:20mother earth keeps me connected to the nature valentina you grew up out there in the wild this
03:25must all be so overwhelming don't worry i'll show you how things work around here sweet words sharp
03:31edges she is not welcoming me in she's reminding everyone in this room where i came from planting the
03:37seed before i've even had a chance to grow a sister who smiles like that the days ahead are not
03:43going to
03:44be peaceful mija don't just stand there sit down make yourself comfortable grandmother wanted me to
03:49take the duke name stand up in front of everyone and say i'm one of them i belong here but
03:55mother
03:55saved my life raised me i'm keeping her last name selva that's not up for debate let's just say
04:03grandmother was not happy about it
04:08fine call yourself whatever you want
04:11put her in the west wing
04:14right away then selena
04:16the west wing was the most remote and dilapidated courtyard in the duke family
04:20i knew that my grandmother was telling me through her actions that she didn't like me
04:24grandma let me take you to your room
04:26don't let ungrateful people ruin your day
04:29at least you know how to be a devoted granddaughter valentina not like some people who only know how
04:34to give me a massive headache valentina was loving this she thought that if i refused the duke name
04:41she'd stay the only daughter of the family but blood doesn't change just because of a last name
04:46i had my own way of earning their respect
04:58miss i'm laura the young mrs duke sent me to look after you
05:02i'm susie the young mrs duke sent me to teach you proper manners
05:05you're a wild little thing so pay attention
05:07don't go embarrassing the duke family in public
05:09laura stay here
05:12susie get out
05:13i said get out
05:20in a place like this if you don't bite first
05:23you get eaten
05:24miss you shouldn't have refused the old mrs duke's request about the surname
05:28without the name they would never take you in as a duke
05:32being a duke doesn't mean anything to me
05:34if you treat me with kindness you'll have my respect
05:37if you don't
05:38i won't forget that either
05:41amalia holding a grudge against grandmother already
05:45amalia grandma gave this to me for my 16th birthday
05:48it's my favorite thing and i'm giving it to you
05:51so maybe now you'll stop being jealous of how much everyone loves me
06:00i don't want it thank you
06:01take it back please
06:04if you don't accept it you're still holding a grudge that i took over your position as a daughter
06:08you must accept this gift
06:10give it to grandma and ask her to help return it to valentina
06:13miss this pendant is worth hundreds of millions
06:16none of the young masters got one
06:18only valentina if she gave you why not keep it
06:20do as i say
06:27miss the old mrs duke asked that you accept this
06:31then put it somewhere everyone can see
06:33valentina's not kind enough to send me gifts
06:36now that grandmother's already seen it
06:38i'd love to know what game she's playing
06:44hey where's your pendant you never take that off
06:46amalia wanted it so i gave it to her
06:47she is the real duke daughter
06:49if she'd never been taken grandmother would have given it to her anyway
06:52is she crazy
06:53who does amalia think she is coming back here and messing with you
06:56come on let's go get that pendant back
07:06every duke goes to the same place
07:07colegio san marcos the most elite private academy in latin america
07:11but i grew up in the jungle for 18 years
07:13no transcripts no school records
07:16technically i wasn't even allowed to apply
07:18but the headmaster had come to the jungle more than once begging me to enroll
07:21so i figured that wouldn't be a problem
07:24hand this to headmaster he'll know what to do
07:26are you asking me to abuse this family's name
07:28we are not the kind of people who use power to intimidate others
07:32exactly amalia just because you're the duke's biological daughter
07:35doesn't mean you get to pressure the headmaster into doing whatever you want
07:38what are you doing here
07:38weren't you overseas for your exhibition
07:40and if i hadn't come back valentina would have been bullied to death
07:43amalia axe stole the sweet 16 gift you gave valentina
07:46when i returned to the family
07:48mateo was conveniently away for his exhibition
07:50didn't even show his face
07:52but now the first time he sees his own sister he believes valentina instantly and comes after me
07:56how ironic
07:57amalia in the jungle maybe you could take whatever you wanted
08:00but here if you want something you buy it yourself
08:02you don't just take valentina's things
08:04exactly
08:12because she gave it to me
08:15that's valentina's most prized possession
08:17why would she ever give it to you
08:19give it back
08:19now
08:21and if i say no
08:25stop
08:32i gave her that pendant myself
08:35it was always meant to be hers
08:37i don't mind giving it up
08:39amalia
08:40valentina is a duke daughter whether you like it or not
08:44and the second you walk into this house you start making trouble for her
08:48are you resentful
08:50because we raised her
08:51i would never think that way
08:54oh i think you would
08:56you just got back and you're already bullying her
08:59what's next
09:00you're gonna stop respecting the rest of us too
09:02exactly
09:03she won't even take the family name
09:05she doesn't want to be a duke
09:06just send her back to the jungle where she came from
09:08enough
09:09not another word
09:12even grandma's furious now
09:14amalia
09:15don't tell me you're getting kicked out on day two
09:22please don't upset yourself over this
09:24i'm happy to give amelia the pendant
09:26i just hope she doesn't hold a grudge against the family for what happened all those years ago
09:32grandma
09:33you have the nerve to play us against each other
09:36yesterday amalia brought that pendant straight to me
09:39asked me to return it to you
09:40i'm the one who told her to keep it
09:42and now what
09:43you want it back after you hand it away yourself
09:49grandma backed her into a corner
09:51and there was nowhere left to run
09:53what valentina never figured out
09:56she lost control of this the second it started
10:00grandma i didn't
10:01i swear
10:05yesterday valentina looked me in the eye and said
10:07amalia grandma gave this to me for my 16th birthday
10:10it's my favorite thing and i'm giving it to you
10:12so maybe now you'll stop being jealous of how much everyone loves me
10:16wait how do you remember all that
10:17i said that exactly word for word
10:19i told you i didn't want it
10:21you kept insisting i resented you for taking my place
10:24so i went to grandma and asked what to do
10:25she said you were only being kind
10:27and told me to accept it so i did
10:29now you're accusing me of stealing from you
10:31what game are you playing
10:32grandma i wasn't trying to take anything back
10:35mateo misunderstood
10:36i told him it was a gift but he was worried amalia was bullying me so he brought me here
10:41i should have explained it better
10:42i made you understand i made mateo misunderstand
10:46it's all my fault
10:47valentina apologize to amalia right now
10:53amalia i'm sorry
10:55it was my fault
10:56apology accepted
10:58take your pendant back
11:00a gift from you
11:01i wouldn't dare
11:10thank you
11:12i didn't grow up here
11:13but the woman who raised me taught me right from wrong
11:15i came back for family
11:18not for money
11:19give me something sincerely and i'll be grateful
11:21anything else
11:22don't waste your time
11:26laura was worried i'd push my grandparents too far
11:28but i'm not here to just sit there and take it
11:31if they keep choosing valentina over me
11:33i'll walk
11:33simple as that
11:36valentina
11:36what you did today was unacceptable
11:39we've spoiled you because we thought you cared about this family

18:06actually
18:07we came today to discuss the alliance between amalia and azak
18:11amalia grew up in the jungle
18:13so being the suca family's leading lady might be too much for her
18:16valentina and azak grew up together though
18:18i think it'd be best to just give the engagement to valentina instead
18:22valentina would be perfect
18:25azak what do you think
18:26i couldn't agree more
18:27i don't need a barefoot jungle savage for a wife
18:30she's nothing compared to valentina
18:31to be honest
18:32she's entirely beneath me
18:34since you look down on me fine
18:35you're not good enough for me either
18:37consider this engagement cancelled
18:44amalia were you serious about what you just said
18:47absolutely
18:48figures
18:49a wild girl with no manners
18:52you think you can just call off a sucre engagement whenever you want
18:56why not just hand it to valentina instead
19:01why are you looking at me like that
19:02it's creepy
19:03you've got the same damn stare as alejandro
19:08a daughter of the duque family isn't yours to pick apart
19:11this engagement ends today
19:18who the hell do you think you are
19:22don joses said this marriage himself

19:28fine
19:31within three days i'll find dong hezos myself and make him call off the engagement
19:36after that azak and i are done
19:40he's not worth it
19:52is this how the duques raise their daughters
19:54talking to her elders like that
19:59musia don't work yourself up
20:00it's not good for you
20:02she spent 18 years out in the woods
20:04just got back to civilization
20:06of course she doesn't know how things work in high society
20:09don jesus
20:11alejandro's been taking care of him all this time
20:13that man
20:14even death thinks twice around him

20:33i want to go home
20:35i don't want to stay here
20:38you
20:38take me home

23:47three drops in water
23:49every day
23:51it'll clear out the remaining poison
23:53and help your body recover
23:55dad
23:57let the doctors check it first
23:58before you take anything else
23:59what do you know
24:01i drank her medicine
24:02and my head finally cleared up
24:04she's worth ten of those doctors
24:06you brought in
24:09she just got back to the duque estate
24:11and she's carrying the ancient babu elixir
24:15every specialist i brought in failed
24:17she walks in and fixes him in one afternoon
24:22you should know
24:23your father's condition
24:25chronic organ failure
24:27caused by long-term poisoning
24:33that's impossible
24:34we'd never let him eat anything like that
24:36the pattern is textbook
24:37small amounts of toxic plant compounds mixed into his food
24:40doses too low to show up on any standard test
24:43over time it destroys the organs
24:47if we'd waited any longer there would have been nothing left to save
24:50someone did this on purpose
24:52someone can't wait to put me in the ground
24:58i'll find out who
25:07wait
25:08miss duque
25:11my name is amalia selwa
25:13just call me amalia
25:14you never changed your last name
25:16i didn't explain why i kept my last name
25:19a man that sharp had probably already figured it out
25:21the duques had no place for me
25:23and the sucre family was no safer
25:25the duque is long lost daughter
25:27and you're this good at medicine
25:30wait
25:31are you the deepwood healer
25:36i only know a little
25:37the medicine my foster mother left me did the real work
25:40sounds like the woman who raised you was pretty remarkable too
25:43she's the person i respect most
25:46without her
25:47i wouldn't be alive
25:49amalia used to go by selwa
25:51i've heard that name before
25:52the hidden druid priestess in the andes
25:54her name was selwa too
25:56then i'll leave calling off the commagement to you
26:04look into amalia selwa
26:05and her foster mother
26:07i have a feeling the druid might be the deepwood healer
26:10mr alejandro
26:11mrs selwa was the last keeper of a celtic druid line
26:14her people were wiped out years ago
26:16she lived alone in the andes
26:17and raised amalia as her apprentice
26:19she died last fall
26:20gifted healer yes
26:23but definitely not the deepwood healer
26:25what about amalia
26:27amalia's file is strange
26:29there's almost no public record of her
26:31she never went to school
26:32the foster mother homeskilled her
26:33there are way too many questions around this woman
26:38amalia saved your father's life
26:40and you're still questioning her
26:42what are you interrogating her now
26:44she supposedly never left the forest
26:46yet she just happened to have the one medicine
26:47that could save you
26:48how do i know she didn't get close to you on purpose
26:51nonsense
26:51you're so damn suspicious
26:53no wonder you still can't find a woman
26:55willing to marry you
26:57go call off that engagement already
27:00then be nice to amalia
27:04stop scowling
27:05bring her some gifts
27:08try bringing her home as your wife
27:14you said three days
27:16well today's day three
27:17did you call it off or not
27:20i went to see don jesus
27:21and is it over
27:24of course it didn't
27:25she keeps running around causing trouble
27:27and we're the ones who have to clean it up
27:29what if don jesus and alejandro are furious
27:32she's got mom and dad pissed again
27:34at this rate she won't last in this house much longer
27:38excuse me
27:39mr alejandro is here
27:40he says he's here to handle the paperwork
27:42to call off mr azak and miss amalia's engagement
27:45what
27:49the dookies have no idea
27:51i didn't just call off the engagement
27:53i brought the one man they're all afraid of
27:55right to their doorstep
28:00yesterday amalia came to us in person
28:01and asked to call off the engagement
28:03my father agreed
28:06as of today this engagement agreement
28:10is dead
28:13mr sucre
28:14i heard your father hasn't been well lately
28:17did he really agree to this
28:18because i'd hate to think amalia took advantage of him
28:21while he wasn't himself
28:22mr alejandro
28:23amalia only just came back
28:25she doesn't always know how to behave
28:26if she said anything out of line to your father
28:29please don't hold it against her
28:30so this is how the dukes treat her
28:32and why bring her back at all
28:33thanks to miss amalia
28:35my father has been doing much better these past few days
28:37he knew exactly what he was agreeing to
28:39his mind was perfectly clear
28:40what does she have that i don't
28:42her own parents can't stand her
28:44how did she get don jesus to just go along with it
28:46he probably just thought she wasn't worth the trouble
28:48so he let her call it off
28:50that's all
28:51one more thing
28:52my father also asked me to bring miss amalia a gift
28:58this is a top grade colombian emerald
29:00raw uncut
29:01my father paid a hundred million dollars for it at auction two years ago
29:04okay he's given it to amalia as compensation from the sucre family
29:09for calling off the engagement
29:10is that the emerald queen
29:14amalia
29:15my father would also like to have dinner with you sometime
29:18he thinks very highly of you
29:20she never even went to school
29:21she grew up barefoot in the jungle
29:23so why does alejandro talk to her like she matters
29:26why does don jesus treat her like she's someone important
29:29miss amalia i'd like a word with you
29:31in private
29:34yes
29:53who's that
29:54my foster mother
29:55mrs selva
29:57if you have something to say
29:58say it
29:58don't waste either of our time
30:03i found out who's been poisoning my father
30:05it's azak's mother
30:07musya
30:09i figured
30:10in families like yours
30:13power always comes with blood
30:16you're a smart girl amalia
30:17so why come back to a family that won't even treat you with dignity
30:22dignity isn't given
30:23you earn it yourself
30:25my mother died two years ago
30:26same symptoms
30:28same progression
30:29i think it was them
30:30so the suca family is the real trap
30:32santiago and alejandro's half-brother
30:34and his wife
30:35poisoned their stepmother first
30:36then went after their own father
30:38people fight over family money all the time
30:40but this
30:41this was pure evil
30:45what do you want from me
30:46i don't get dragged into other families messes
30:48my father likes you
30:49he keeps pushing to get engaged to you
30:50you're smart
30:52i figured you'd piece it together eventually anyway
30:54better to just put it all on the table
30:55you want to work together
30:57give me one reason why i should
30:58you're not doing this for me
30:59you're doing it for the dokis
31:00they haven't treated you right
31:02but you didn't walk away
31:03that tells me you won't stand by
31:04and watch them get hurt
31:05santiago plays dirty
31:06who knows if he won't team up with azak and valentina
31:08to go after the dokis next
31:10what's your plan?
31:11get engaged to me
31:16one second he's talking poison and murder
31:19the next he's asking me to marry him
31:21yeah
31:21maybe the rumors are right
31:23he's completely insane
31:24you want me to get engaged to you?
31:27Alejandro
31:28you're 12 years older than me
31:3112 years
31:33that's nothing
31:35easy for you to say
31:37then let's do this another way
31:39i keep you and don his as alive
31:41you fight your own war
31:43just keep the duques out of it
31:44so you prefer someone younger?
31:47sounds like you're the one who has a type
31:49here's the deal
31:50if you agree to the engagement
31:52my father will transfer 30% of his shares to me
31:54and 10% to you
31:55as your protection
31:57then you manage my 10%
31:58that gives you enough leverage
32:00to beat santiago and his wife
32:02and take real control of the suker family
32:05that 10% is yours
32:07when you're negotiating
32:08the first thing you protect is yourself
32:09one more lesson
32:10if you want peace
32:11you don't manage threats
32:12you remove them
32:13all of them
32:14Alejandro's offer was tempting
32:16but my gut told me one thing
32:18this man was dangerous
32:19saying yes meant stepping into another storm
32:28i'll give you one day to think it over
32:31she's young
32:32but she thinks like someone
32:34who's already seen the worst of the world
32:39Amalia
32:40what happened to you out there?
32:42we just met
32:43and you stood up for me like that
32:45no hesitation
32:47Alejandro
32:47are you really the dangerous man
32:49they say you are?
32:56i need you to dig up everything you can
32:57on Alejandro Sucre
33:13people say there's always blood
33:15on Alejandro's hands
33:16but that
33:17that's Santiago's lie
33:18the truth is
33:19he's been quietly running a foundation
33:21doing more good than anyone knows
33:22even when he's set up
33:23he doesn't say a word
33:24god he's so stubborn
33:25but somehow
33:26it's kind of endearing
33:27yeah maybe i'll talk to him
33:29after school tomorrow
33:31what are you doing?
33:32this is my car to Caligio San Marcos
33:33who invited you?
33:35starting today i'm going there too
33:37what did you say?
33:38that headmaster is impossible
33:40your family could donate a whole building
33:41and he still wouldn't let you in
33:43then go ask the headmaster yourself
33:50have you made up your mind?
33:51after school we'll talk
33:58to our little arrangement
34:00what arrangement?
34:01miss Amalia
34:02i assumed you accepted my fake engagement offer
34:05why else would you have dinner with me?
34:08if this is a partnership
34:10then i have terms too
34:11go on
34:12first
34:12whatever war you're fighting with Santiago
34:14the Duaca family doesn't get hurt
34:15no collateral damage
34:16second
34:17you get one year
34:18winner loses
34:19the engagement ends after that
34:20third
34:21i'll show up when it counts
34:23but outside of that
34:25my life is mine
34:27you don't get a say in it
34:29no problem
34:30to the deal
34:32i'll take you home
34:33much appreciated
34:45what you think i'm your driver?
34:47front seat
34:47seat belt
34:50you know sometimes you can be pretty obedient
34:52wrong word
34:53and i don't like it
35:14valentine
35:14well well
35:15Amalia
35:15first day at school
35:17and you're already sneaking around with a man?
35:20and who's this hiding in your lap?
35:22too shy to show his face?
35:23what's your problem?
35:24i get it
35:25azak didn't want you
35:26and that stings
35:26but throwing yourself at some random man?
35:28what do you expect from a jungle girl?
35:30no class
35:30no shame
35:31she'll throw herself at anyone
35:32that makes the whole UK family look bad
35:34azak you're awfully concerned about me
35:35starting to regret calling it off?
35:37sorry
35:37boys your age aren't my type
35:39excuse me?
35:40you've got some nerve
35:41i wouldn't touch you with a 10 foot pole
35:44you just wait
35:45i'm telling grandfather the second i get home
35:47let's see how you explain this one
35:49let's go valentina
35:53i can go back with you
35:54set the record straight myself
35:56no need
35:57i can handle it
35:58we'll announce our engagement after don jesus is discharged
36:01that means you take all the heat alone in the meantime
36:03if it were you would you feel like a victim?
36:06me?
36:07no
36:08then why assume i can't handle it?
36:10do i look that easy to push around?
36:11or is your protective instinct making you forget who you're dealing with?
36:14neither
36:15i just lose my head a little when it comes to you
36:18fine i'll stay out of it
36:19but if you need anything
36:21call me
36:21got it

36:28we barely know each other
36:30so why does he care this much?
36:33maybe
36:34he's not the monster everyone says he's
36:38you actually showed up
36:40where the hell have you been?
36:41the duques care about one thing above everything else
36:44reputation
36:45after what amelia just pulled
36:47grandfather might actually throw her out this time
36:54grandpa
36:55i don't understand
36:57alejandro sent such a generous gift last time
36:59so i went to the hospital to visit don jessie's
37:02don't lie
37:02i saw you in that car with a man
37:05lying across your lap
37:07what?
37:08were you trying to seduce don jessie's now?
37:10enough!
37:12how dare you?
37:14i did not raise you to talk like that
37:17not in this house
37:19not ever
37:21i'm sorry abuela
37:23i didn't mean it
37:24i just
37:24i panicked
37:25panicked
37:26or were you just looking for an excuse?
37:29that was don jessie's driver
37:30he was picking something up off the floor
37:32you turned that into a scandal
37:34so which is it?
37:35bad eyesight
37:35or a dirty mind?
37:40a zack saw it too
37:41ask him if you don't believe me

40:06that gown she's wearing
40:07that's a royal couture piece worth tens of millions
40:10the ducas clearly spared no expense
40:14how?
40:14how did she get her hands on a piece like that?
40:17did mom and dad
40:18did abuelo arrange this behind my back?
40:20i heard she'd been living in the jungle all these years
40:23i expected someone completely out of place
40:26and yet here she is
40:27more striking than valentina
40:29if you ask me
40:30she just walked in and stole my spotlight
40:33i swear amalia

42:16you
