00:39he can go out there and get the job done people want good football and here's one other thing to
00:43remember Dylan Gabriel got booed at the stadium last year because he wasn't Shador Sanders so it's not
00:49just personal against Deshaun it's very much a we love Shador phenomenon that's going on here too it
00:56would be the same thing for Dylan if they start Dylan in the Carolina game he's going to get booed

01:07so this is where I have to respectfully disagree with Mary Kay Cabot and remind everyone that she
01:13is a hall of famer and she is a genuinely nice person and I hope that she hears I'm disagreeing
01:19with the idea but I'm not I'm this is not about Mary Kay Cabot it's about the idea right
01:24um I don't believe that to be true in any way when it comes to Shador's impact on Deshaun's
01:31relationship with the fans Deshaun's relationship with the fans was already cooked by the time
01:36Shador got here and and you we can say it was when uh like three percent of fans cheered Deshaun
01:43Watson's injury uh two seasons ago and that's all he chose to hear from that moment or when then
01:48the locker room came out and tried to admonish Brown's fans also not a great look um it can go
01:55all the way back to when he was acquired here after being accused of and sued for 20 plus
02:00allegations of sexual assault but I assure everyone listening that while yes Shador has a
02:08rabid fan base and yes they are loud and they attack you if you say anything that could be construed
02:15as negative about uh Shador Sanders that doesn't have a whole hell of a lot if anything to do
02:22with Deshaun Watson's relationship and and trying to connect those two I think is wildly apologetic
02:29of Deshaun Watson who deserves absolutely zero apologism after five years in Cleveland yeah exactly
02:37right I I don't see the connection there between Shador and Deshaun Deshaun existed before Deshaun or
02:43before Shador and sucked before Shador and the two should be separate and even the Dylan Gabriel
02:47point Dylan didn't get booed because of Shador Sanders and then people wanted to see Shador or
02:51anything like that it was he got booed because he was awful with the Browns yeah because he couldn't
02:54play he got preferential treatment and then couldn't back it up that's why Dylan Gabriel got booed
02:59and the same goes with Deshaun Watson Deshaun Watson got booed because it's the largest contract of
03:04guaranteed money in NFL history while giving three first round picks three second round picks and didn't live
03:10up to it worst trade in NFL history is why you get booed not because of people wanting a backup
03:14quarterback to play and listen this is where I want to move the the thought that Mary Kay had that

03:18just happen to disagree off to the side here and I want to just talk about what is I think
03:23a a framing
03:25effort by different people in the media and it's happening on all levels and it's not like a widespread
03:31you know it's just trying to have a different opinion on the Deshaun situation and trying to put it in
03:37any other context than what is appropriate they're like Deshaun has a role in the relationship and the
03:43deterioration of the relationship with Browns fans uh he was a broken toy when he got here all the
03:50things that we heard about who he was in Houston we never really saw right and and I and I
03:55know his
03:56point will be well I really tried to do that this year I think for a lot of people that
04:00was a little too
04:01late right a little too little a little too late so I I get that we all want to try
04:07and look at this
04:07and go well really who bears responsibility it's the Cleveland Browns and it's Deshaun Watson and some
04:13of that is their direct action some of it is this thing just went sideways and you cannot help when
04:20the
04:20biggest trade in franchise history goes sideways and the organization continues to shove it in your
04:27face that's the one part that I will say yeah I mean Deshaun is getting blamed for the Browns a
04:33bit
04:33here but again Deshaun's the guy going along with the plan to try and get another opportunity to play
04:38in the NFL this year and as he should obviously but then what comes with that and this is going
04:42to
04:43infuriate me like five years from now 10 years from now if Deshaun's on a podcast and been like I
04:47wonder if it would have worked out differently if Shador wasn't the backup quarterback no Deshaun it is
04:52always going to fail it's failed with you for the first three years of you being here obviously
04:56didn't play last year it's going to fail for you this year and that is whether Dylan Gabriel was
05:00the backup or Shador Sanders was the backup and and honestly even the cliche which as as true as it
05:06is this is a true axiom that people are saying yeah Deshaun just plays good football people get on his
05:11side it's as true as I think that is in a general sense I think there has to be a
05:18specific amount of
05:19good football I think there has to be a specific amount of goodwill brought back when when two uh what
05:26was
05:26it two weekends ago uh in the Bills preseason game but what was the first one the Bears were the
05:32first
05:32the Bears were the first one when he was interviewed by Aditi in game and he smiled and he looked
05:38like
05:39he was genuinely like sincerely relieved at what had taken place that he had played at least acceptable
05:46football I thought man that guy looked like he had a personality I didn't I hadn't really seen too
05:51much of that version of Deshaun even if it was a three-minute interview with Aditi and so and I
05:57remember thinking like oh hey more of that more of like a light Deshaun that doesn't look like he's
06:02carrying the weight of the world around that doesn't look like a guy who would rather be anywhere
06:06including the seventh circle of hell than Cleveland or in front of a microphone and then literally a
06:12week later the guy takes a blowtorch to this town with what he said so like right I just think
06:18he's created such a deficit that if if previously it was two good games two and oh week three you're
06:25not going to hear as many boos if that was true before his press conference I don't know what the
06:31right amount of good football is for Deshaun to repair this relationship because he there there's
06:38hey I haven't been myself here there's I haven't played good football here hey there's I've been this
06:43I've been that it's the worst trade NFL history all of that pales in comparison to Saturday it just
06:50does and so I don't know I don't know what the right amount of games are good football players
06:54it doesn't pale in comparison the the first three years are really really lousy and that's kind of
06:58one of the cases I've been making over the past couple weeks was I was I was yelling at people
07:02the idea that how are you just all willing to let the first three years and now really four years
07:07just kind of wipe away and give them such a clean slate and it did feel like fans were at
07:12least
07:13approaching that idea until Saturday happens so maybe that's where your argument comes into play
07:17I just I don't look at this as Shador being the kerosene that gets thrown in the fire yeah and

07:21think it's interesting like I understand Shador fans are a bear they are um again like I I have been
07:30accused of being a Shador stan on this station simply because I looked at Deshaun Watson and said
07:36absolutely not right right I think people get that confused sometimes I tell I tell it to you how many
07:41times I have just as much animosity towards Deshaun Watson starting as I do towards wanting to see
07:47Shador Sanders start but even then more but even then like we talk about it and I would I would
07:52have
07:52a particular phrase that I would use with Shador and I would get hate on social media I do think
07:58we've reached a point here where some of the discourse on Shador it does feel personal from some
08:06of the media and it has nothing to do with I don't I don't want to say nothing it has
08:10it doesn't have
08:11as much to do with Shador as it does his fans and obviously this last week has been a critical
08:17mass
08:17because of some of the things that happened I'm not going to mention the guy's name uh what he what
08:22he did was classless and trashy and he showcased himself and I think that is a bad look on Shador
08:27just quite frankly 100% is yeah but I do think we've gotten to a point where for whatever reason
08:33I think there's a lot of I think there's a lot of bending over backwards to try and turn this
08:38into
08:39a Shador problem whether it's Deshaun or to reframe him as just a fifth round pick as if we haven't
08:46seen him on the field and I I think there's a lot of hooey and a lot of people I
08:51think I flexing on
08:51this in a way that I don't think is actually accurate to what the situation is I think people that
08:56are
08:57trying to make the claim that I told you in the beginning part of the show the Jimmy and D

09:01clown poster that I saw walking to work today or even the Deshaun Watson posters that have now been
09:06up for a couple days that exist around downtown Cleveland right now if you come on down people
09:11acting like those wouldn't exist if we had a different backup quarterback is the part that's
09:15driving me insane those those those those would exist uh you could put uh anybody you want to name
09:20that's a backup quarterback in the NFL instead of Shador Sanders if Saturday goes down the way
09:24Saturday goes down Deshaun Watson and the and the uh hatred by this fan base and the animosity that
09:30is filled with this fan base would still a hundred percent exist and so that's where I think I think
09:35Shador is just an easy scapegoat for a lot of people on this I just don't think it's the real

10:04got booed because of Shador period no he didn't no he got booed when the Browns overdrafted a micro
10:12machine as a quarterback in the late third round and then told everyone oh we think he's a backup
10:17as if that made sense oh he got booed because he was the preferred son of Kevin Stefanski and the
10:24organization and then looked like absolute garbage in practice and then they forced him into the
10:31starting lineup five weeks in and the guy wouldn't throw beyond the the line of scrimmage yeah he got
10:37booed because he wasn't good at football like that's not on Shador Sanders that's on that's on
10:40Dylan Gabriel like there's no other way to look at it listen I do think the Shador conversation the
10:44Shador narratives I think it's way more complicated than anyone really wants to dissect on any given
10:49day I can we can all agree on that because the fan base does add something there but there's a
10:55group
10:55of people who never liked the kid and whether that was for his his cronies or because of his dad
11:00or
11:01whatever who have turned him into the the antichrist of the Cleveland Browns and I think you should
11:07look a little farther up the depth chart if we want to start throwing those terms around I guess
11:10the good thing about this is that it doesn't appear that to Sean and Shador at least look at this

11:14way that maybe some people are like to Sean and many bad things that he's said over the previous
11:18couple weeks at least he doesn't go to the press conferences and put the blame at Shador's feet
11:22and same thing with Shador Shador's never once blamed to Sean I think that's at least refreshing
11:26they at least seem like they get along they at least seem like they're not letting it bother
11:29because I think I think each know that independent of the other is why all this is happening it's not
11:35because of the other
