00:04Now, let's talk about what happened today.
00:06A magnitude 4.6 earthquake was recorded at 8.58 a.m. this morning at a depth of 45 kilometers.
00:15The epicenter was located 84 kilometers west of Puerto Spain, 101 kilometers northwest of San Fernando,
00:23and 106 kilometers east of Venezuela.
00:26The earthquake was reported felt in Debo-Martin, Separia, to name a few.
00:32Hopefully, no shaking is expected tonight, but we can look out for clear and cool conditions despite one or two
00:39brief showers,
00:40with minimum temperatures at 25 degrees in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago.
00:44And it's safe to say that tomorrow you can run your errands with ease.
00:49As the Met Office says, expect mostly sunshine,
00:52but still have the umbrellas on standby because conditions can be interrupted by a few cloudy spells with occasional showers.
01:00Daytime temperatures will reach up to 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago.
01:05And you can follow suit for the weekend as well because both Saturday and Sunday will be predominantly sunny and

01:13with a chance of occasional showers.

01:21And sunset at 6.17 in Trinidad and 6.15 in Tobago.
01:25And if your weekend starts tomorrow and you're planning on showing off at the beach,
01:29remember your sunscreen and seas will be slight to moderate,
01:33with waves 1.5 meters to 2 meters in open waters and below 1 meter in sheltered areas.
01:38But be careful because spring tides are in effect.

01:59I did mention that spring tides are in effect, but what does that really mean?
02:04Question, what happens during spring tides?
02:07Is it A, the difference between high and low tide is greater?
02:11B, the difference between high and low tide is smaller?
02:14Or C, there are no tides?
02:17Or D, waves completely disappear?
02:19Well, the answer is A.
02:22So during spring tides, the sun, moon, and earth are aligned,
02:26causing the gravitational pulse of the sun and moon to work together.
02:30This produces higher than normal high tides and lower than normal low tides,
02:36creating a larger tidal range.
02:38They can sometimes increase the risk of coastal flooding, beach erosion,
02:42and rougher conditions near the shoreline,
02:45especially if combined with strong winds, large waves, or heavy rainfall.
02:49Spring tides occur around the new moon and full moon.
02:53Well, now you know.
02:53And as promised, let's check in with Tropical Storm Dali.
02:58Dali has formed in the Atlantic, but it's forecast to weaken into a tropical wave
03:03as it approaches the Leeward Islands this weekend.
03:06For Trinidad and Tobago, no direct impacts are expected.
03:10However, its remnants may cause weaker winds on Saturday and Sunday,
03:16leading to very hot conditions with localized afternoon showers and thunderstorms,
03:20mainly across western coastal areas.
03:23By Monday, trailing convergence behind Dali's remnants is expected to bring increased rainfall
03:28to Trinidad and Tobago.
03:30And for those of you asking, the storm and its name had no connection to Dali Patton's death.
03:36It is purely coincidental.
03:38Storm systems are named by procedures set by the World Meteorological Organization
03:44and the list on names are reused every six years.
03:49But rest in peace to the icon.
