00:02At just 12, a boy whose name we've changed to Oscar has already faced major challenges.
00:09He's seen both parents sent to jail, experienced relentless bullying and is currently homeless with his mum.
00:16When we got kicked out that was annoying.
00:19Now Oscar and his mum are trying to turn a new leaf.
00:22Not-for-profit Second Chances is helping them find a new home while supporting Oscar with school and his goals
00:29for the future.

00:37The organisation says helping children with incarcerated parents is an important part of breaking intergenerational cycles.
00:45It's not their fault. They're affected. They're the invisible victim of crime as well.
00:49Second Chances recently opened a hub to support prisoners and their families as well as those experiencing domestic violence or
00:58homelessness.
00:59There's also an op shop and cafe which employs people living with disability.
01:04But its days could be numbered.
01:07Second Chances has been told Department of Human Services funding will end in December due to budget constraints.
01:14But in a statement to the ABC, the government says it's exploring options that may see the partnership continue.
01:21In the meantime, Second Chances is grappling with soaring demand.
01:25We're getting approximately about 100 people a day coming through these doors.
01:29I absolutely think the government can do a lot more.
01:33Fighting to keep helping some of society's most vulnerable.
01:37,
01:37.
01:37.
01:37.
01:39.
01:39Keep going home and around.
