I felt bad for Elijah. He had already been daggered once, yet he still chose to trust Elena. In this scene, Elena ended up betraying that trust.  In this tense scene, Elijah Mikaelson confronts Elena Gilbert outside the lakehouse, declaring their protection deal off. Unable to enter without an invitation, Elijah threatens to wait her out. Elena risks her own life by stabbing herself in the stomach to renegotiate terms, forcing Elijah to break his posture and panic. As Elijah promises her safety and moves close to heal her with his blood, Elena tricks him and suddenly stabs him with the white oak dagger, incapacitating him.
