00:08This is in response to recent deadly school shooting incidents in which the shooters were minors who used guns owned

00:16Remulia sat through the budget hearing of the Department of the Interior and Local Government at the House of Representatives
00:20on Thursday, August 27.
00:22He was asked what measures his agency has taken in response to school shootings in Zamboanga on August 18 and
00:28in Tacloban City on June 22.
00:31He says amending the implementing rules of the law governing gun ownership is needed to allow the police to inspect
00:36gun owners' homes.
00:37He adds he is aware the proposal might trigger concerns about privacy.
00:41This might upset a few people because it might be interpreted as an impingement of rights.
00:51However, we must remember that the privilege to own a gun is not enshrined in our constitution.
00:57The shooter in the Tacloban incident was able to take the gun of his aunt because it was quote left
01:02on a table.
01:03In the case of the Zamboanga incident, Remulia says the shooter found the gun in a bag in the car
01:08that brought him to school.
01:09Authorities are preparing lawsuits against the gun owners in both cases.
