Two-seat fighter developed by Saab with participation from Brazilian industry remained airborne for 40 minutes; model will be used by the Brazilian Air Force for training and operational missions
The Gripen F, the two-seat version of the Gripen E fighter, completed its first flight on Friday in Linköping, Sweden, marking a new stage in the program developed by Saab in partnership with Brazilian industry.
The aircraft took off at 9:40 a.m. local time from Saab’s airfield and remained airborne for approximately 40 minutes. The flight was conducted by Saab chief test pilot Jakob Högberg, accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Aviator Abdon de Rezende Vasconcelos, a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) test pilot.
During the inaugural mission, the crew assessed the operation of the aircraft’s main systems and evaluated its initial flight characteristics. With the completion of this stage, the Gripen F officially enters the airborne phase of its test campaign.
