00:00In Mexico, the Chamber of Deputies has presented a reprint of the book Fidel in the Mexican
00:05Imaginary, a publication that also commemorates the centenary of Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz.
00:12Our correspondent, Denny Rosas, has more information.
00:17It has been 100 years since his birth, but his legacy has not faded. It continues to flourish.
00:27The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, remains as relevant as ever.
00:32The book, Fidel in the Mexican Imagination, was reprinted and released again to mark the centennial
00:37of his birth. It is a collection of writings by 30 prominent figures who lived with or knew the
00:41historic leader of the Cuban Revolution. Many highlight Fidel's qualities, his intelligence,
00:49his memory, and his iron will. Others are convinced of Castro's enduring legacy,
00:54that new generations will come, and he will continue to live on. But all expressed the
01:00deep affection he inspired and the guidance he provided to so many of us in our political work.
01:06A portrait of Fidel Castro, as necessary then as it is now, amid the escalation of the U.S.
01:12blockade against Cuba and the rest of the world.
01:16Among his qualities are also his revolutionary spirit, his fighting spirit, and his leadership,
01:22both in the armed struggle and after victory.
01:28Fidel's centenary coincides with new, increasingly cruel, irrational, and inhumane attacks by the
01:33United States against the Republic of Cuba.
01:40The book also includes a series of photographs that help readers understand why Cuba became the
01:44light of the region under the leadership of Commander Castro.
01:51Because while it is an irrefutable fact that Cuba, that little giant, has been in the crosshairs of
01:55the most powerful, imperialist power, with the greatest destructive capacity of all time.
02:03It is also a fact that it is now more threatened than ever before.
02:11The document shows us Fidel of Cuba, but also Fidel of Mexico, because we have not forgotten the legacy he
02:17left in Mexico.
02:18I believe that at such crucial moments as those we are experiencing now, especially in Mexico,
02:25where there is so much interference from other powers seeking to intervene in our public affairs,
02:30the lessons Fidel left us are more indispensable than ever.
02:37I believe that one of the most important aspects of Fidel's legacy is the hope that people can change their
02:42destiny,
02:43that a better world is possible, one where justice, fairness, and equality exist.
02:48Where there is justice, equality, equality, and equality.
02:56This is how Mexico remembers Fidel's message, his struggle, his image.
