00:02Nearly 1,000 people took the plunge into the Danube and Budapest on Saturday,
00:07taking part in the Gineralli OWT Danube swim,
00:10held along one of the river's busiest stretches in the Hungarian capital.
00:15The event takes extensive preparation, its organizer told Euronews.
00:31Organizers say the water is clean, the stretch is safe, and there are no whirlpools.
00:37While the Danube's strong current can feel exciting, even a little scary,
00:41by the second or third swim, as one participant put it, it's pure heaven.
00:45It was a really good experience. I think all people who live in Budapest should try it.
00:50It's very tough, the first bit, because the current is, you think you're swimming in a straight line,
00:54but you're not. It's a really well-organized, great event.
00:59The Danube swim is part of the Gineralli Night Run Sports Festival,
01:03with mainly running events through iconic locations in Budapest.
