The TVK government in Tamil Nadu has canceled the proposed SIPCOT industrial park project at Valapatti in Namakkal District following strong opposition from local farmers. Minister Lokesh Tamilselvan, the MLA from Rasipuram, announced that the project initiated during the DMK regime will now be relocated to Lathuwadi within the same district. This marks the third major infrastructure initiative by the previous administration to be scrapped or altered by the current government, following similar moves regarding the Parandur airport site and the Chennai Global Sports City complex. The shift highlights a recurring political pattern in Tamil Nadu, where incoming regimes frequently review, modify, or relocate infrastructure projects launched by preceding governments amidst local protests and administrative reassessments.

00:00This is also from Tamil Nadu viewers.
00:02As we speak, yet another DMK regime project cancelled by the TVK government in the same project
00:07announced in a new location of the same district.
00:10It's the SIPCOT that was supposed to come up at Walaypatti of Namakkal district
00:16and has now been cancelled due to the stiff farmer opposition.
00:20Instead, it's a new SIPCOT announced in the Lattubadi of Namakkal district.
00:24Minister Lokesh Tamil Salvan, who is Rasipuram MLA, in fact, in Namakkal district,
00:30made this very announcement that the earlier DMK regime SIPCOT project has been cancelled.
00:36This is what we are learning at this given point of time.
00:39Anaga Keseth now joining me on the broadcast with more details on the same.
00:42Anaga, yet another project that we see that's in fact taken a similar turn.
00:47It's been cancelled by the TVK.
00:48Not cancelled completely, but the location has been changed by the TVK government
00:53due to certain protests that had come in against the one that had been introduced and launched by the DMK.
01:01Yeah, that's right.
01:03In fact, this is another such project that has been cancelled.
01:08First was the Parandoor airport project that the government has now scrapped the location
01:12and has stated that they look for alternative sites.
01:16And then there was Chennai Global Sports City Complex that was cancelled.
01:20We are hearing murmurs that the project is being reworked on, but there is no clarity yet.
01:25But at the moment, this particular project, the Chennai Global City project that the DMK has
01:29had even laid the foundation stone for.
01:31That project also stands cancelled.
01:33And now is the third project that we are looking at.
01:36This is the SIPCOT that was supposed to come up in Waleapatti village of Namakkal district.
01:41Now, this SIPCOT, in fact, it has been moved, although the Waleapatti one has been cancelled,
01:47it has now been moved to another village in the same Namakkal district.
01:52So, it's not cancelled per se, but moved to another location.
01:56So, this has really raised a lot of questions about why a recent slew of projects that the previous regime
02:02had introduced, the current government is now going on cancelling.
02:05This is not the first time.
02:06Many other governments also do this.
02:08When there is a change of regime, generally, all parties do follow this.
02:13This is a matter of politics here.
02:14And that's a very similar playbook that the TVK government is also following.
02:17So, this is one such infrastructure project that has been cancelled and been replaced in a new location.
02:24Right, Anaka.
02:25Thank you for bringing us all those details with regards to this very story.
