00:00Pretty impressive result after last week, where did you see the biggest improvements
00:04by the season?
00:07Just a week in football isn't it, the ups and downs.
00:13The biggest pleasing thing for me was, we spoke about it during the week, dealing with
00:17setbacks really, if you want to be a good team and successful team every team gets beat
00:21or you've got to deal with setbacks in certain ways, whether that's the momentum in the game,
00:26whether that's a goal in the game, whether that's losing the game or running the game,
00:29whatever that may be, you've got to deal with the setback.
00:33We spoke about it before the game to try and overcome last week and then we took a mini
00:38setback, if you like going a goal behind, but I think it showed the stubbornness a little
00:43bit, the belief, the confidence and the togetherness the boys showed at that stage, in a small part
00:48because we were so early in the season but I think that was really pleasing for me to be
00:56able to bounce back and put in a performance like we did.
00:58That's probably the biggest thing to take, there's a lot of highlights and a lot of really
01:03good football to play but that mentality was what we really relied on today.
01:08Talking about setbacks, it's easy to ask about Bruno, but can I ask about Kobe Manning,
01:13because I thought he was brilliant today.
01:15Talking about setbacks, we asked in Dublin about his World Cup experience, maybe wasn't the best,
01:20but where do you really see he can develop his game today?
01:23What's that physically you've also developed?
01:24On today's performance, not much really, I thought he was pretty much all round very, very good.
01:30For a first start back, we kind of managed him a little bit and we got good midfielders,
01:35so there's that trying to make the best of the combinations.
01:39I understand Bruno will get a lot of credit today and he deserves that as well,
01:43but I thought Kobe was immense in the middle of the pitch for us and underpinned the performance of the
01:47team.
01:49Michael, you mentioned Bruno, it's not the first time that a Manchester United manager has come in here
01:54and we've said what do you make of Bruno, but in terms of his leadership,
01:59both in terms of the way he leads the team but also performances like that,
02:04can you just kind of encapsulate what he means to Manchester United?
02:09Of course he means a lot, he's the captain, he's been here for a good number of years now,
02:14he's experienced a whole lot of different emotions and different things.
02:18He's got a lot of experience now to pass on to others and show them the way a little bit
02:22as well
02:22and lead by example and help them in different moments and times like today,
02:27you know, when sometimes you're looking towards certain players to give us that little bit of something else
02:33and he did that today particularly well, so he offers us a lot, you know, what else can I say?
02:41We've said quite a lot about him already and I've only been here six or seven months,
02:45so hopefully there's a lot to come.
02:48Following on from that, he's not going to have any critics today,
02:51do you find it surprising sometimes that his leadership gets criticised from the outside?
02:56It doesn't surprise me now, that's the kind of things that get labelled when you lose games.
03:02I said it last week, just because you lose a game doesn't mean everything's wrong,
03:07or the wheels have come off or they don't want to play or they're not passionate or they're not leaders,
03:12you know, you lose games of football, best teams lose games of football,
03:15so I think, again, talking about setbacks, the best teams bounce back,
03:19and to be fair, since we've been here together, the boys have bounced back particularly well
03:24from different setbacks, you know, and that will stand us in good stead moving forward.
03:29Hi Michael, he's obviously played here many times before,
03:32but since Marcus' first start here in nearly two years, what did you make of him?
03:36Yeah, I'm really pleased with Marcus, I thought we dealt with the whole day as normal really,
03:42and I'm sure it was nice for him to be back and starting games here,
03:47and enjoying being involved in a good performance really,
03:50you know, it was his first start, first start for a few today,
03:55but I thought he'd done particularly well in not easy circumstances,
03:59particularly, you know, as the game was going through the kind of cycle,
04:04and then second half it all clicked, so I thought he'd done all round very good,
04:08and he'll only get better, so I was really pleased with him.
04:12Rob?
04:13You've spoken before about getting the team to play in the right way,
04:16and obviously the team that you played and scored five, very often it hasn't happened,
04:20so much in the intervening years, and how important is it that you don't win games well
04:25and score a lot of goals in the weekend today?
04:28Yeah, I mean, we can't take it for granted either, you know,
04:31it's difficult to win games at this level, so of course,
04:35if you can win games in that way, then it has a knock-on effect,
04:41I think it gives you that extra little belief, as long as you don't get carried away from it,
04:44and all of a sudden now it's a flip from last week,
04:47and all of a sudden we're the best team around again, and that's how it goes,
04:51we won't think that, but it certainly gives you that confidence,
04:55and I think, again, going back to it, the setback of having to really earn it,
04:59it didn't come flowingly easy today, you know, we had to find ways to do it,
05:02and then you get the goals and the result on top of that, so that's, again,
05:08that's probably the biggest thing for me today was how we ended up getting it,
05:13and the boys will benefit from that for sure.
05:16Laurie?
05:17Just another one, Mark, for me.
05:19It felt at one point he was going to go to Barcelona,
05:22when that didn't happen, did you envisage a day like this,
05:24where he'd start at Old Trafford, you know, in two years almost,
05:28and can you even see in a world where players are going for a lot of money,
05:32a player of that calibre coming to United, for the price,
05:35because he's been a free view, but can you sign on?
05:38Yeah, well, listen, he's adding to the group for us for sure,
05:42because it's pretty obvious, but, you know, I've known him for a while,
05:46and then he wasn't here when I've come back, and now he is,
05:49so I think he's making the most of that for us, and for him as well,
05:52you know, to have the opportunity to be here, he's one of our own,
05:56you know, he's living his dream playing here now,
06:00and trying to be successful and win, you know, so whatever's gone on,
06:03and I think part of this club, there's players that have come and come back sometimes,
06:08or players that maybe were going to leave, didn't leave,
06:10and it's always about what you do next, you know,
06:13and what your intentions are, and he's been fantastic since he came back,
06:17I have to say, and it was great to see him on the pitch today for us.
06:21Tyrone, last one for James.
06:23Hi, Michael, there's obviously about 48 hours left of the transfer window,
06:27are you expecting or hoping to have to the squad on the next few days?
06:32It's always difficult to say, to be honest, when there's so little time left,
06:36I think the situation that we're in, I think the business that we've managed to do,
06:41I think I'm pleased with, I think we're a better group, better squad,
06:46potentially a better team, you know, and adding Marcus into that feels like a new signing,
06:52so in that respect we're quite happy, you know,
06:57we're always open to if there's something else to be able to add,
06:59so I wouldn't shut that down, but as it stands we'll have to wait and see.
07:05James?
07:05Michael, just following on from Rob's question, do you feel you're at a point now
07:09where there are potentially a lot of goals in this team,
07:14do you think there are going to be times when actually TACs are going to be your best form of
07:18defense?
07:20It depends, if one week doesn't flip things, you know, I'm not getting carried away.
07:25Yeah, I think we've got plays within the team and the group and the squad
07:28that are capable of creating and scoring goals and sharing the goals,
07:31and we shared the goals particularly well last season,
07:35so you've got to find different ways, you know, and defend well as a team,
07:40defend better as a team at times, I think at times through the period we've defended well as a team
07:45and we've found different ways to defend, I thought we defended how it pitched particularly well today,
07:50you know, and we gained the ball and had some good transitions
07:55and looked dangerous in different ways again, which was pleasing, you know,
07:58at times when we created opportunities in and around their box with a lot of plays in the box,
08:04times when we transitioned and we attacked a lot of space and looked dangerous from deep with Brian's goal,
08:10and so there was a good mixture there and I think obviously we've got to find the right balance
08:15and options and we can play slightly different ways across the front line that we have done already
08:19and a lot of the front players can play different roles which is a little bit different today
08:26with playing Cunha a little bit deeper and Brian and Marcus a little bit higher,
08:31so it's up to us to try and get that balance right, you know,
08:33but certainly there's creation and there's goals within the squad for sure.
