01:42I came among you in great fear and trembling,

03:24Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up,
03:27and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day,
03:32as he usually did.
03:34He stood up to read,
03:36and they handed him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah.
03:42Unrolling the scroll,
03:43he found the place where it is written,
03:46The Spirit of the Lord has been given to me,
03:49for he has anointed me.
03:52He has sent me to bring good news to the poor,
03:55to proclaim liberty to captives,
03:58and to the blind new side.
04:01To set the downthroden free,
04:04to proclaim the Lord's year of favor.
04:08He then rolled up the scroll,
04:12gave it back to the assistant,
04:14and sat down.
04:16And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him.

04:22This text is being fulfilled today,
04:24even as you listen.
04:26And he won the approval of all.
04:29And they were astonished by the gracious words
04:32that came from his lips.
04:35They said,
04:37This is Joseph's son, surely.
04:39But he replied,
04:41No doubt you will quote me the saying,
04:44Physician, heal yourself.
04:46And tell me,
04:48We have heard all that happened in Capernaum.
04:51Do the same here, in your own countryside.
04:55And he went on,
04:57I'll tell you solemnly,
04:58No prophet is ever accepted in his own country.
05:02There were widows in Israel,
05:04I can assure you,
05:06in Elijah's day,
05:07when heaven remained shut
05:09for three years and six months,
05:12and the great famine raged throughout the land.
05:15But Elijah was not sent to any one of these.
05:19He was sent to a widow at Zarafath,
05:22a Sidonian town.
05:24In the prophet Elijah's time,
05:27there were many lepers in Israel,
05:29but none of these were skewed,
05:31except the Syrian Namman.
05:35When they heard this,
05:36everyone in synagogue was enraged.
05:38They sprang to their feet
05:40and hustled him out of the town,
05:41and took him up to the brow of the hill
05:44where a town was built on,
05:46intending to throw him down the cliff.
05:49But he slipped through the crowd
05:50and walked away.

06:00They didn't like the challenges he gave them,
06:03so they wanted to kill him.
06:06This is reading,
06:07the prophet Jeremiah was complaining
06:08that he had to speak stuff
06:10that people didn't like to hear.
06:13Well, as Christians,
06:14sometimes, always with love,
06:16but often, often, many times,
06:19we have to make a stand
06:20about our values,
06:22such as the values on life
06:24at all the stages,
06:26the dignity of the human person,
06:28justice,
06:29and not everybody will like what he said.
06:32So, we need to be able
06:34to speak our faith,
06:36not be overwhelmed
06:38by popularist opinions
06:40of one type or another.
06:42Whether they come from left or right,
06:45we're called to speak the Gospel
06:47and live the Gospel.
06:49Welcome or unwelcome,
06:51I repeat,
06:53always with love.
06:55Paul himself says,
06:57what's the point
06:58of doing anything
06:59unless it's with love?
07:01I can give my body to be burnt.
07:03I can even do miracles.
07:05I can do all types of things.
07:08But if it's without love,
07:10it's useless.
