Nepal's disaster authority and the Flood Forecasting Division issued early-morning alerts to residents of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts on Sunday, advising them to stay vigilant amid reports of renewed flooding in the Bhotekoshi.

The warning came after Chinese authorities shared information indicating increased water flow upstream.

The combined toll in Nepal and Tibet rose to 691 dead and over 3,000 people missing after China’s latest update on Sunday.

Chinese authorities reported 16 deaths and 546 missing, while Nepal’s disaster agency said late Saturday that the death toll had climbed to 675 with 2,498 people missing.

00:11We're in Dading, where we're seeing some of the roads are opening up, including parts of the main St. Paul
00:16Highway that was shut down.
00:17The highway serves as a major way for things to get in and out of Kathmandu, and there's fears there
00:21may be shortages ahead of the autumn festival season.
00:24Behind us, you're seeing along the river. We've been getting warnings all morning that the river levels might be rising
00:29and that water's moving very, very fast,
00:31so locals have been advised to move way to higher zones, a way to safety.
00:36We got the SMS alert from the Flood Control Department, and local police and army personnel inform us that there
00:49is a flood coming,
00:50the second phase of the flood. There is some deposit that is dropped, and the flood is coming to go
00:58to the same place.
00:59That's why we came to some height from the ground level.
01:04You can see also the extent of the destruction. There's entire homes, there's tractors, farming equipment vehicles completely submerged to
01:12the sediment by the riverside.
01:14I think the extent of the damage is still being surveyed because areas are very hard to access.
