It was a full circle moment for Harry Styles — but even he hadn't heard this story before. On night 1 of his 30-show residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden, the former boy bander said a worker at the venue reminded him that when he first played there at 18 as a member of One Direction, Styles got out of the car and kissed the floor out of gratitude in this video. The "Watermelon Sugar" singer said although he "wouldn't be caught dead kissing the floor these days" due to germs, he remains just as grateful for the gig as he was back then.

00:00I had the great privilege of playing in this building for the first time when I was 18 years old.
00:07There's a gentleman who is working here, who is working on it there,
00:12who shared with me that when I got out of the car that day,
00:16I kissed the floor and said,
00:21I made it to Madison Square.
00:29Now, while since then, we've learned a lot about Jones,
00:37so I wouldn't be caught dead kissing the floor these days with my pathetic immune system.
00:48However, it is not lost on me what it means to play here,
00:54and I am truly willing to be back in the car.
01:00It is absolutely not lost on me now,
01:04and while I don't remember getting me out of the car and kissing the ground,
01:07I am thrilled to know that even back then, it was not lost on me either.
