00:00My name is Undubisi Oce and today we are back in our school again for another year.
00:05So we sell food, drink.
00:08I think my first carnival I was four, selling whistles originally and horns and stuff like that.
00:13And then over the years it's changed.
00:15And I'd say for about 12 years we've been doing food, me and my wife from here.
00:19Even when my wife was nine months pregnant with my son.
00:23So she came when she was heavily pregnant, nine months.
00:26And then the year after my son came, I think he was around 11 months old for his first carnival.
00:31There's a lot of crap in the media every single year that we've got to battle with.
00:35And we just know it's not true.
00:37Like on the way here, my suitcase broke.
00:39I was struggling, battling to go through the crowds.
00:42People were just helping me.
00:43It's a community, it's family and that's ultimately what it started from 60 years ago.
00:48From, look, we are here, there's a reason for us being here.
00:53There's nothing wrong with what we're doing.
00:54Let's come together as a community and show London what's going on and show the UK what's going on and
00:59what our culture really means and how influential the culture is.
01:02And I'm not even Caribbean, right?
01:04I'm Nigerian, my uncle's Nigerian.
01:05He was fortunate to grow up around Caribbean people being in West London, right?
01:10But it's a community and most of our cultures reflect that community and that's what it all means.
01:16Can you give us a little indicator about how well you guys normally do on a weekend?
01:20Do you know what?
01:20The reality is, like, the money is the money and the profit is the profit.
01:24But like I said, it's literally the community.
01:27It's tiring.
01:28So really and truly, when you net it out, you're probably not making any money given how much days prep
01:32you do, how much on your feet.
01:34You're probably not making any money once you account for the sweat equity, right?
01:38It's the community, it's the love, it's the friendship.
01:41It's that.
01:41That's why you're here.
01:43That's what brings you the money, you know?
01:44That's what brings you the happiness.
01:45By the way, I am taller than him, just so you know.
01:47You're the happiness.
01:48You're the happiness.
01:49You're the happiness.
01:50You're the happiness.
01:50You're the happiness.
