"The Last One To Leave" is another of my very first songs, written in 1998.

You're feeling restless for a place you used to know
You try to figure out which way the wind will blow
Where you once ran you find you now can only walk
You have the key but still you cannot see the lock

And that is why you're feeling so unsure
Your finest days can open up the door
Your eyes are bright from all that's gone before
And still you want to be the last one to leave

The words hang in your mind like storm clouds in the sky
She's gone away now but you still have to ask why
Just make a move before this fire burns you out
Cos one day you won't know why you had these doubts

And that is why you're feeling so unsure
Your finest days can open up the door
Your eyes are bright from all that's gone before
And still you want to be the last one to leave

If you wanted to know more
You would learn
If you wanted to find out
You would burn
Cos there is only one way you will know
What's going on

And that is why you're feeling so unsure
Your finest days can open up the door
Your eyes are bright from all that's gone before
And still you want to be the last one to leave
