00:29I would be the oldest person to hike the AT, but I wouldn't be the oldest person to through-hike
00:36the AT.
01:08There is a huge, huge difference between hiking the trail at 82 years old and, again, or at 91.
01:21Huge difference.
01:23But it is possible, because I'm proving that.
01:26We're going to the Falls.
01:28To the Falls?
01:29Yeah.
01:29Beautiful.
01:32Can't wait.
01:33Are you towards the end?
01:36I was so sad, I thought maybe I'd never meet this legend.
01:40You're a legend for me.
01:41We are here now.
01:43Yeah.
01:44One of the things that surprised me is how quickly the public caught on and started following me.
01:54And how many people were encouraged and embraced by my efforts at 91 to try and hike this trail.
02:05That's really been inspiring to me at the same time.
02:10And I actually have somewhat changed my mission to hike the trail and get the age record back, which was
02:20the original reason why I signed up.
02:30I am 91, so I'm blazing new grounds for hiking long distance like this.
02:38No one in the 90s has ever through hiked or section hiked the Appalachian Trail.
02:46Only two people in the 80s have done it.
02:48So it's not a sport normally participated in by older people.
02:56But maybe they'll start coming out now after I'm setting an example.
02:59Oh.
03:01Oh.
03:05His plunger.
03:06Oh yeah.
03:10before you.
03:12He lets go.
03:13Oh.мосie
