Amid a lack of uniforms, a teacher shortage, and prolonged blackouts, six-year-old Olaya Trian was among the 1.4 million students who began a new school year in Cuba, where a severe economic crisis -- exacerbated by sanctions from Washington -- is forcing families to shoulder rising costs for their children's education.
