10:43Sure, but he also seems wildly unqualified to run a kingdom with any level of seriousness.

10:54and probably the parts of statecraft nobody else wants to touch.
10:58That doesn't excuse his power grabs or his creepy obsession with control.

11:14Still, when a palace is being run by a childlike ruler with zero political discipline,
11:19the ambitious advisors start sounding a lot less insane.
11:22Maybe taking over the kingdom was excessive, but the frustration was understandable.

11:38Stinky Pete.
11:39Toy Story 2.
11:41This one hurts because, underneath all the bitterness and betrayal,
11:45Stinky Pete is actually making a pretty convincing argument about the harsh reality of being a toy.
11:49I'll tell you what's not fair.
11:52Spending a lifetime on a dime store shelf, watching every other toy be sold.
11:58Well, finally my waiting has paid off, and no hand-me-down cowboy doll is gonna mess it up for

12:04Kids do grow up, lose interest, and eventually shove toys into a box, a closet, or straight into the trash.
12:11Stinky Pete's dream of staying preserved in a museum, admired forever,
12:16is actually a pretty understandable response to the terrifying impermanence of his existence.

12:43but the emotional core of his argument is painfully relatable.

13:09well, I hope I'm there.
13:11The cybernetic pirate may be in the dirty business of hunting treasure,
13:15but he's not a bad guy.
13:17Sure, he has an abrasive demeanor, and he's greedy,
13:20but he also has a sense of honor.
13:23His principles include avoiding violence and harm whenever possible.
13:27Plus, he has his priorities straight.
13:29Near the end of the film,
13:31when he's given the choice between rescuing Jim or a bunch of valuable goods,
13:35he picks Jim.
13:43He clearly loves the troublemaker like he would his own child,
13:47and gives him support that Jim didn't otherwise get.
13:50He may be complicated,
13:52but at his core,
13:53Silver is good.
13:55Number 19.
13:56Morgana, The Little Mermaid 2, Return to the Sea.
13:59The main antagonist from this Disney sequel is pretty horrible,
14:03but we understand her perspective.
14:06Not only is she an outcast from society,
14:08she also struggles with living in Ursula's shadow.
14:11Stop criticizing me!
14:14That's all my mother ever did was criticize me!
14:17It was always Ursula this or Ursula that.
14:22Apparently, their mother always showed a preference for Ursula.
14:25Her motivations are complicated.
14:27She's driven by a desire to both avenge her sister's death,
14:31and to prove that she can do what Ursula couldn't,
14:33take over the kingdom.
14:35Sure, she's violent,
14:36but some might say that Triton and his kingdom had it coming
14:39thanks to their mistreatment of Morgana and Ursula.
14:42Not to mention,
14:43Morgana is only able to deceive Melody
14:45because the latter's parents,
14:47Ariel and Eric,
14:48kept her mermaid heritage a secret.
14:50I've given you what you've always wanted.
14:53She is the one who lied to you all these years.
14:57I was trying to protect you!

15:01Gabby Gabby, Toy Story 4.
15:04All I want is a chance for just one of those moments.

15:21she acts out of a desire to be loved.
15:24Her methods are questionable,

15:31she's never really experienced what it's like
15:33to be played with and adored by a child.
15:36For decades, she's been stuck in an antique store,
15:39her purpose as a toy unfulfilled.
15:41It's pretty tragic and totally unfair.
15:43Woody has had not one but two fantastic owners
15:46by this point in the story.
15:48Even he realizes that Gabby is deserving of a fair chance
15:51at finding one of her own.
15:53What if you're wrong?
15:57Well, if you sit on the shelf the rest of your life,

16:03Captain Gontu, Lilo and Stitch.
16:06Imagine this scenario from Gontu's point of view.
16:08As a captain of the Galactic Federation,
16:11enforcing intergalactic safety is literally his job.
16:14As far as he knows, Stitch is a destructive monster
16:17capable of wreaking havoc on Earth and in space.
16:20So Gontu believes capturing him is in the best interest
16:23of both the alien and human populations.
16:26This could be your chance to redeem yourself, Captain Gontu.

16:36Since Pleakley and Jumba are unable to recover Experiment 626,

18:46and thought he would always be loved.
18:48When that's torn away from him,
18:50he finds a way to take charge.
18:52It's basically like he's been possessed by a trauma response.

19:17we don't think Danahi is morally in the wrong.

19:37The problem is that the bear being hunted by Danahi

19:51and we certainly understand protesting
19:53the unnecessary killing of a creature.

19:57one could argue Danahi's behavior is somewhat justified.

20:02Rather, he's someone working through the pain
20:04of losing his family the only way he knows how.

20:15In this world we remain
20:23Orphaned when she was young due to a hero-related tragedy,
20:27the tech-smart Evelyn doesn't trust supers,
20:29and we can't blame her.
20:31She imagines a world where regular people
20:33aren't dependent on superheroes,
20:35which sounds pretty good to us.
20:37While her ambition to keep the heroes illegal
20:39is emotionally driven,
20:40it is also kind of practical.
20:43Because you have some strange abilities
20:45and a shiny costume,
20:47the rest of us are supposed to put our lives
20:49into your gloved hands.
20:51That's what my father believed.
20:53Things can get complicated when vigilantes,
20:56superpowered or otherwise,
20:57take law enforcement into their own hands,
21:00which is essentially what Mr. Incredible and his pals do.
21:03She may go about things the wrong way,
21:05but ultimately,
21:06Evelyn was just trying to manage
21:08the weird power dynamic
21:09that exists between supers and regular people.

21:58you kind of get the feeling
21:59that they're not really into it.
