00:00When I talk about this tokenizing movement, we also saw Xi'an, the fast fashion giant, begin trading in Hong
00:08Kong.
00:09And trading on-chain in Xi'an was available from day one on Solana.
00:14So I guess I want to start there with you, because you look at Xi'an's debut in Hong Kong,
00:19it closed a little change.
00:20It did plunge as much as 10%.
00:22And for a primary traditional exchange, like the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, a positive listing is obviously preferred over a
00:28disappointing debut.
00:30As someone with the Solana Foundation, are you as invested in the price action or more agnostic on how these
00:38companies trade on-chain in their first few days of trading, as you would be if you were the head
00:43of a traditional exchange?
00:46Thanks so much for having me.
00:47For us, this is really a story of access, and for me as well.
00:51What we saw both with Xi'an going live globally, basically as soon as it was available on the Hong
00:57Kong Stock Exchange, and this new announcement from the London Stock Exchange, is that we're seeing global exchanges are interested
01:02in being able to distribute all over the world and be able to get access to global markets here.
01:08And for individuals, that story is a great one as well.
01:11You know, if you're someone who is in the United States or Argentina or Nigeria, being able to use a
01:18number of different tools to be able to get access to these new products is really what you're looking for,
01:22and that's the exciting part.
01:23So, price action, I can't comment one way or another.
01:26I think some stocks will do well at debut, others won't.
01:29The key is that people who are interested in being able to participate in these markets can do so, and
01:34the actual exchanges can be able to access a truly global pool of investors.
01:38Right. No, I don't need your comment or thoughts on the price action, but I'm curious whether that matters to
01:44you, or are you agnostic?
01:46Because as long as it's being used, as long as it's available on-chain, that's all you need.
01:52We don't pay much attention to price action.
01:54We're really excited about the idea of this being accessible, and the vision is for all assets to eventually find
01:59their way on-chain, and part of that means that some will have a lot of action and some of
02:03them won't.
02:03Amira, the problem, though, if somebody's watching right now and they're saying, well, wait a second, this stuff is accessible
02:09to me, at least when a stock starts to trade, I can buy it Monday through Friday from 9.30
02:15to 4.
02:16What is the problem in your view that it solves?
02:20Well, I think there's a couple of different answers there.
02:24The first is that when we think about access to the stock market, yeah, you and me, someone who spends
02:30time in San Francisco or New York, we can access stocks when they're available to trade.
02:35But we are in a global market.
02:37I'm the child of immigrants.
02:39My mom grew up in East Africa.
02:40My dad in Pakistan.
02:41I don't know that your average East African or Pakistani has access to these stocks easily.
02:47And the idea is being able to create a global market where these assets are truly accessible.
02:51But the other thing that I think is really interesting is that you're seeing from the exchanges, in this case,
02:55you know, the London Stock Exchange with the news with Kraken this morning, that they are really interested in accessing
03:01global markets.
03:01So they see an opportunity here to be able to get product market fit by driving more liquidity to the
03:07assets that are listed on their exchanges.
03:09And so it's not just us as sort of, you know, a foundation that's interested in seeing the growth of
03:14Internet capital markets based on a blockchain.
03:16It really is the exchanges that see an opportunity to be able to get global accessibility to the markets.
