00:00Sports actually has nothing to do with anything on the field, which usually doesn't happen, which is, you know, kind
00:05of curious what you think about this, which is the Los Angeles Angels are no longer going to be owned
00:11by Artie Moreno and his family.
00:14Naturally, I say family because it is my understanding that over the last few years, it's been more of the
00:19Moreno family than it is actually already running things, but Artie, the majority shareholder, is going to sell the Angels
00:27to Stan Kroenke of Rams fame, St. Louis.
00:32Naturally, no one's a big fan of him in St. Louis, but now a fan of him in Los Angeles.
00:36Joe, your thoughts here on the what's being reported as almost four billion dollar sale of the Los Angeles Angels
00:44of Anaheim.
00:46Well, he owns the Rams championship, Nuggets championship, Avalanche, I think five total Arsenal as well.
00:55I think he won the English premier title in May.
00:58So we're talking about an owner that gets every time he gets involved with a franchise in a professional sport
01:06atmosphere.
01:07Guess what he does, Greg?
01:09He wins.
01:10And if I'm the Angels right now, if I'm an Angels player and I'm involved in this organization at all,
01:16I got to feel much better about the ownership direction.
01:20It's going because that doesn't happen by accident, Greg, unless I'm missing something.
01:24You don't own a team in every sport across the board and build winners and win championships by accident.
01:32So I can't wait to see the direction the Angels go.
01:36But if I'm a player, I think I'm pretty excited right now that that's going to be the new ownership
01:41group.
01:41Yeah, we still don't know, Joe, naturally about the new collective bargaining agreement and how that could potentially affect baseball
01:48next season.
01:48But you're right, Kroenke has won a lot everywhere he's gone.
01:52He is, unfortunately for him, not left the best situations.
01:57Of course, I think maybe what people feel like he's most famous for is taking the Rams out of St.
02:03Louis and placing them in Los Angeles, which is a huge win for them.
02:07Getting that new stadium built, huge win for them, but maybe not so much the city of St. Louis.
02:12In fact, you're not even, I don't think, allowed to speak this guy's name there in St. Louis as well.
02:16But you're right, for the game, and I think the other thing, Joe, that should be mentioned before we get
02:22to some games tonight, maybe the biggest part about this, is that it looks like the Angels are being sold
02:28for more than the Padres.
02:30And so baseball franchises are going higher and higher.
02:34You're looking at almost $4 billion is what is being currently reported, which tells you what some of the bigger
02:42franchises in baseball must be, because Los Angeles is a major market.
02:47And it also probably tells you what some of the other franchises are working.
02:51Like, there's probably not a baseball franchise at this point that isn't worth $2 billion in value, right?
02:57Like, it's fair to say, if the Angels are four, everybody else has got to be two.
03:02How in the world are the Angels valued at $4 billion?
03:06That is just, that tells you everything you need to know here, Greg, about why we're likely going to have
03:13to go back and forth for a couple of months once the season is over to try to figure out
03:19a new collective bargaining agreement.
03:21But heck, listen, you can have the valuation, doesn't mean you're going to win, right?
03:26You still have to make the right decisions across the board.
03:30And for a guy that is in the, owns an NBA team, an NHL team, and an NFL team, and
03:36has five championships among them, he knows how to push the right buttons.
03:41He gets into, he doesn't just buy franchises like, there used to be an old Marlins owner, I can't remember
03:48what his name, like he'd buy it, then he'd break it down, then he'd sell, then he'd get out.
03:51And then, yeah, nothing like, well, Huizenga wanted a championship, but he couldn't wait to get out.
03:58No, the next guy that he sold it to was notorious for winning, selling, winning, selling it off, winning, and
04:04then let me get out of here altogether right after we build a new stadium.
04:09That's not him.
04:10And by the way, he owns, yeah, by the way, he owns, I think he is the largest landowner in
04:19the United States.
04:20Because he owns all that property at SoFi, where the Rams are in the truck, he owns all the property
04:26of all of these places that, where they play.
04:29So he has got quite the portfolio, he's got quite the bank account, but it's, we'd be different if we
04:36were sitting here going, yeah, he owns all these teams and never wins anything.
04:39He just, how do you win in the Premier League?
04:42You buy a team and all of a sudden you're a winner, and Arsenal wins the Premier League.
04:47It's, I don't know, winning is contagious, man.
04:50I think the Angels are in good hands, but I think a lot of teams are looking at that $4
04:55billion valuation right now.
04:57I don't know, what are the Yankees worth?
05:00Honestly, what are the Yankees worth?
05:02What is Boston worth?
05:03What are the Yankees worth?
05:03What are the Yankees worth?
