00:00Well, Tiana Guy's coach, Raynaud Cox, did not hold back in his response to boxing promoter, Boxer Potts.
00:06He's confident they will get things done in the right time.
00:09Well, to be honest, one of the time which we'll leave with it right now, we really focus on Olympic
00:15qualification,
00:16Continentals and Pan-American Games. That's our major focus at the moment.
00:20Tiana is still a material boxer. She has not turned pro at the moment.
00:26So we're not really focusing on professional fights like that.
00:30But definitely when the time comes, we're going to cross that bridge.
00:33I think we're going to deal with it very easy. There's not going to be much for us.
00:37Well, you are telling me that she's amateur, but she's telling me that she's pro slash amateur.
00:43How does that work out?
00:45Well, she has a professional license, but I'm saying she's amateur in the sense that she has not actually fought
00:50a professional fight.
00:53But she has a professional license.
00:55Cox explained that Guy will be turning focus to the Pan Am Championships in October in Mexico after suffering defeat
01:02at the CSE Games.
01:03Guy would have expressed disappointment after losing.
01:06She believes that the decision went unfairly against her.
01:10For me, I thought it was a bit unfair.
01:14But, you know, again, I don't know if there is still one company about it.
01:18I think if you look at the fight, in this personal fight, I think Tiana was leading.
01:22We all thought she was leading, going through, into the final moments of the fight.
01:28And we were pushing very hard for that with her.
01:30You understand?
01:31But judges didn't see it that way.
01:34So next time, we're definitely going to try and clean it up.
01:37We're going to work on her being a little more aggressive, you know, throughout the fight.
01:43And was there room for a protest of the result?
01:46There's actually no space for us to appeal in Olympic side boxing.
01:51So we have three judges.
01:53The decisions are usually final.
01:56Well, as you know, it's not the first time she has said that.
02:00Is there any means of communicating that there may be some sort of disparaging results coming from the Caribbean as
02:08opposed to other Mexican teams or so?
02:12Has that been expressed in any way?
02:15Well, I wouldn't say it has been expressed.
02:18I mean, it has been noticed among the region what happens.
02:22But I think for us to get the balance in that is for the Caribbean and maybe other Latin American
02:29countries to actually have more officials officiating at these events.
02:34Cox explained that the development continues to take place at the junior level with the intention of churning out more
02:39boxers.
02:40He was the coach of the team at the School Boys Boxing Tournament in Guyana, where TNT won three silver
02:46medals.
02:46They all fought one for a fight each.
02:50And unfortunately, we lost those fights.
02:52But I feel encouraged with the performance overall.
02:56We had Sean Ramnott, who has been at the Caribbean School Boys for the last three or four years.
03:00Unfortunately, this time he was unable to defend his title.
03:04But he definitely went in there with a guy a little bigger than him.
03:06He was like 37 kgs and the guy was 40 kgs.
03:10So the guy has some weight on him.
03:11But I think, you know, he did his best in his performance.
03:15And with the other two boxers, we had J.U. Vance, and he's out of the Fight Factory in Chaguanas.
03:22And he's particularly a new boxer.
03:25And I think he had a really credible performance against a strong guy in his opponent.
03:29And also we had Fabio Jacob, who is fighting out of Edson Brady Athletics Box, who started boxing this year
03:39in our national championship.
03:41He's national champion after just two bouts.
03:44And he was able to go there and give a really good account to himself.
03:46So I feel encouraged by it.
