00:01Police have been arriving at the home of John Perkovich since the early hours of this morning.
00:07Now Mr Perkovich is a former organiser with the CFMEU Victoria branch under John Setka
00:14and when the union went into administration he was actually promoted.
00:17He was second in charge of the union but he was dismissed last year
00:21when some allegations of corruption were made against him
00:24and we understand that it's those allegations that AFP officers are investigating today.
00:29So we've seen about half a dozen AFP officers go into the home.
00:33There's also been a sniffer dog that's been searching with them
00:36and a lot of their interest has been focused outside and on some cars in the driveway.
00:43Mr Perkovich it seems is not under arrest. He has been coming and going from the home
00:46and we actually caught Mr Perkovich coming back to his house during a live cross that we did on News
00:53Channel a little earlier.
00:55This is actually we believe John Perkovich now who's just pulled up.

01:13The allegations against Mr Perkovich actually centre around this very house.
01:19Geoffrey Watson, who's a CFMEU investigator, he wrote a report that was tabled at a Queensland inquiry into the CFMEU
01:26in which he made a number of allegations against Mr Perkovich.
01:30One of those allegations is that this house has been built by a builder who in exchange was given favourable
01:38treatment by Mr Perkovich and the CFMEU.
01:41And Mr Watson also makes another allegation that there's a block of land out the back of this house
01:45and that was purchased by another builder and Mr Watson alleges that block of land was gifted to Mr Perkovich.
01:52So we understand these are the sorts of allegations that the AFP are probing.
01:57The AFP is conducting an operation at the moment called Operation Rye,
02:01which is looking into corruption in the building sector and into the CFMEU more widely.
