00:00Forget the top-ranked women's names at the U.S. Open for a second, because there's a 17 seed running
00:06through the draw like she's got something to prove.
00:08And this queen has come to queens to be crowned nothing but queen.
00:13Her name is Alex Iyala. Remember it, because right now she might be the best story out at Flushing Meadows.
00:21Iyala just steamrolled American qualifier Mary Stoyana in two sets in a match that barely took an hour and 18
00:29minutes.
00:30She won five straight games at one point. That's right, five. And this isn't a fluke.
00:35Her resume shows that she's about due for a run. She's a lefty out of the Nadal Academy, and this
00:42year alone she's beaten Iga Shvitek, Naomi Osaka,
00:47and won her first WTA title by knocking off world number three, Jessica Pagula.
00:53In fact, she's cracked the top 20 in this calendar year.
00:57Last year, she became the first Filipino woman ever to win a Grand Slam main draw match.
01:04So this year, she's not just showing up to queens. She's here to make some noise.
01:09And her crowd already knows it. Ticket demand for her matches has spiked up through the roof.
01:15In fact, prices have gone up over 100% before her first serve.
01:21Now that's star power.
01:23Next up, she heads to round two.
01:25But if she keeps swinging like this, we could be talking about a deep run in New York.
01:31Alex Iyala.
01:33Write that name down, because this U.S. Open just might belong to her.
