00:00Having won the CWI Rising Stars Women's Under-19 Championship last month, Trinidad and Tobago's
00:06cricketers were honored by the TTCB on Tuesday afternoon.
00:10A luncheon was held at the offices in Balmain at which some members of the cricket fraternity
00:15spoke about their achievements.
00:17TNT Women's Cricket Association Technical Director Anne Brown-John lauded the team for
00:21being undefeated in Antigua.
00:23I must start by saying how very proud we are of these ladies.
00:29I am even more proud when I stand here and look at them today, how resplendent they look.
00:37I'm always, you know, around the Caribbean, we are always told that Trinidad and Tobago
00:43is considered the most disciplined team, juniors and seniors.
00:50I saw it in this tournament.
00:52TTCB President Azen Basraat was extremely delighted with the girls who won 6 from 6.
00:58And he had an important message for the players despite the fact that they were still very young.
01:03I just want to advise you that although you are under 19, there are players, there are
01:11people who are watching you and who are trying to emulate you.
01:16So I expect that you will go about yourselves in a very dignified manner after today and for
01:22the rest of your life of course.
01:24But you must be the ones setting examples because other younger cricketers who are 12, 13 years,
01:32they are watching you and they want to be just like you.
01:37Captain Samara Ramnath could not be left out.
01:40She was named most valuable player of the tournament plus the tournament's most outstanding bowler with 16 wickets.
01:47This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the support of the guidance of the technical staff,
01:54coaches, our parents and everyone who stood behind us throughout this tournament.
01:59We truly appreciate it.
02:01Today we can proudly say that the hard work, sacrifices and belief were worth it.
02:06We started this journey as a team, we finished it as champions and that is something we can all be
02:12proud of.
02:13TNT defeated defending champions Barbados by 6 wickets in the final at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.
02:19We know now on the TVSport.
