00:01We did a nationally representative survey of a group of 400 Australian teachers, and
00:07we asked them how much time they lose to student misbehaviour.
00:11And on average, they said one third.
00:13We found consistency across the board.
00:15There is generally speaking a big behaviour problem in Australian schools.
00:19It's pretty similar in secondary and primary school.
00:21I think what we need to have is far more consistent routines and support across schools.
00:27So, within a school that you have some consistency in behaviour and expectations, so it doesn't
00:33fall to the individual teacher.
00:34We know in every school there's a few teachers who are considered to be the strict ones and
00:38have no problems.
00:39There are other teachers who always have more issues, and it's those teachers who we need
00:43to support.
00:44So, we need more consistency across schools to be able to ensure that there's expected
00:49behaviours that are clearly stated for all students and that they are consistently enforced.
