00:19But now scientists at Purdue University say they've developed a super white paint that can not only keep buildings cooler

00:26but can also keep its surface more than 3 degrees Fahrenheit lower than the surrounding air.
00:30Right now, heat reflective paints are pretty good, reflecting around 80 to 90% of heat energy from the sun.
00:36But this new acrylic paint made using calcium carbonate can reportedly reflect 95.5%.
00:41Even better, the paint is cheaper and can be applied thinner than conventional reflectives as well.
00:46They even estimate that the paint will save homeowners money, around $50 per month on cooling costs.
00:51The only downside? You would better like white.
