With an eye on Russia, Finland runs Europe's largest civil defence exercise since WWII

Western officials say Russia is carrying out a campaign of sabotage and disruption across Europe that has involved fires, attacking power stations and sending drones into EU airspace.

00:00Finland is running Europe's largest civil defense exercise since World War II,
00:05as to boost preparedness in the event that Russia expands its war on Ukraine to its other neighbors.
00:11More than 2,000 people, including volunteers and students, are taking part in the exercise.
00:16In this scenario, critical infrastructure including power and water in the city of Kuopio
00:22have been disrupted by cyber attacks, coupled with the threat of missile attacks from Russia.
00:27The goal is for local authorities and ordinary people to rehearse what they would do if they came under attack
00:33for real.
00:34Participants are sheltering in a massive underground bunker built into a cave,
00:38designed to withstand a nuclear or biological attack, and capable of housing up to 7,000 people.
00:45Finland says it plans to increase the frequency of these exercises
00:49as to protect their nationals against any potential threats.
